Horiryu only takes cash and paypal only. I don't think he takes credit card.

So how does the process work? Consultation, make deposit, get sketch and come back on your set date or come back before the date to check it out? For a picky guy like me, what happens if I don't like the artist's sketch? Is he going to charge extra $$ if i repeatedly want to make changes on his piece?

Recommended artists for non traditional Japanese work as well would be greatly appreciated. Besides Cohen or Jeff Tam. Thanks.

If its small changes u want to make the artist can pretty much change it at the date of the tattoo.

I'm sure you can ask to see the sketch before the date but its totally up to the artist, they might be too busy or prefer to draw the sketch the night or two before the actual date than they wont have time to book u in just to take a look. Taking a picture of the said sketch on your phone or something is gonna be out of the question unless you are really frds with the artist

In my experience the sketch is always better than what I had in mind when coming up with concepts. If you find an artist that has a style you like, it will probably be the same for you

same i find that if i really like the artist's work to begin with I always like whatever they come up with. I also try to give the artist no restriction, none of that i want to incorporate my whole family plus lucky number plus some stupid symbol shit

Never seen a credit/debit card machine at a tattoo shop

Recon604 10-30-2013 08:39 AM

ofc they wont take credit card or debit card.

its hard work. Why buy a machine and then give a percentage of it to the company? Cash only

westopher 10-30-2013 10:12 AM

Ormiston ink, portside, Atomic zombie, eye of the lotus all took credit card. Theres lots of jobs that are hard work and take credit card. What kind of logic is that? Some artists will and some won't. It depends on their demand. If they don't have to take it they won't, but most do otherwise they'd have a bunch of empty spots.

You also need to remember that they're on the hook for fees especially if they start taking CC

Just like any business.. It's up to the business owner to decide if they want to make it more convenient for their customers and eat the fee. The place I go to takes credit card but I think they make you pay the 2% or 3% fee.. just like a computer store :lawl:

+1 for horiryu

if you want to pay credit card, just pay credit through paypal. that's what i did

great guy, you can have some pretty hilarious conversations with him

I doubt it's the couple % the CC companies would take that are stopping it, more likely because it would increase the amount they would pay on their taxes.

There are some other really good artists in Vancouver but some are a pain to get a spot with.

I'll have to check out horiyu seems like the guy to get ink'd up from. I personally don't care if it's done traditional or not honestly I personally can't tell the difference between half the pics on here if they are or not. But I've looked into what the differences mean and certain stuff being beside others as such. I'm not sure if the first one I got is traditional or not I'm going to guess non trad since I got it at adrenaline by Logan Howard. But when I paid for my first tattoo I paid debit, but at Stevenson they told me cash only. Going to finish my chest piece next week :)

He's always so easy to talk to during the sessions that it makes the time fly by so quickly.
