Please keep in mind that I have not read the novel. The only thing i knew about this movie beforehand was that it was about a group of conflicted superheroes.

Spoiler!

I don't know if youre "spoiler" was really much of a spoiler that needed tagging but just in case, I'll tag my response to it as well.
Spoiler!

wats so special about this dude

anyone wonna fill me in?

It was a graphic novel written in 1986. It got a lot of praise everywhere. It is not your simple linear superhero fights super villain type story. It's a deep, multi-layered and complex story. It was meant to be read more than once to understand everything. I just read it a 2nd time (getting ready for the movie) and I understood a lot more and enjoyed it a lot more than the first time.

It's like how one might expect Fight Club to be a martial arts action flick--but it's not.

The Watchmen examines a reality in which superheroes have their moment of fame until the government outlaws their occupation, and they have to adjust (or not). Heavily tied with nuclear world war and global conflict, the story explores these themes from several superheroes' and vigilantes' perspectives, as they deal with their extinguished role and new purpose in life after years of service, while at the same time try to solve the mystery to the death of a former notorious comrade.

DanHibiki 03-06-2009 05:12 PM

930???? that late???

I went 1hr30min early for dark knight and got front row seats still

CallTransOpt 03-06-2009 06:15 PM

First 3/4 was amazing, last bit was unexpected and was pretty much a cheesy copy of a gr.10 history textbook. Will watch dvd in years to come.

hal0g0dv2 03-06-2009 09:02 PM

i thought ending was good

mako 03-06-2009 11:49 PM

not as good as Dark Knight of course

but it was pretty decent in its own right

kitsune 03-07-2009 01:28 PM

I don't know..
Maybe I was too tired to be watching the 11 pm show..
The trailer looked So. Much. Better!
Mind you, I've never heard of the comic series...... lol but it wasn't what I was expecting.
I'd say.. a definite guy's movie. :P

Berzerker 03-07-2009 04:51 PM

Saw it last night and it was awesome. Got to Colosus at 6:30 to get tickets for the 8 show but they were having a showing at 6:30 too so we bought tickets for that one and got great seats. Ended up getting packed right before the actual movie started.
I had never read the comic so I was watching it just for the sake of watching it. gives new meaning to the words Blue Balls lolz.

Nice fight scenes, nice sex scenes, overall a top notch movie.

Berz out.

Ya unfortunately the trailers were misleading making you think it was a standard superhero action movie when its not at all.

Like someone on here mentioned, it's like fight club...you didn't expect it to be a psycological movie right? You thought it'd be a "fight" movie.

jing 03-07-2009 06:09 PM

A few good scenes here and there but overall a pretty shitty and boring movie. Would probably be better if you actually read the comic otherwise it's a bit confusing.

Expresso 03-07-2009 07:14 PM

Yea I agree, I think it'll be hard to appreciate the movie without reading the comics. I thought it was pretty good though It's supposed to be more about the characters than an action movie.

ya its very detailed about the characters, the first fight scene is amazing tho, the comedian was amazing, did anyone ells not think in the younger years he looked like Robert downy Jr like the same

Mugen EvOlutioN 03-07-2009 10:34 PM

fuck this movie, screw the hype

7/10

2 hours and half, pretty long movie which is fine. I understand they are tryin to explain and build each character and shit, except the smartass. Fight seen was alrit, sex scene was good. but the ending was like WTF, doesnt make any fucking sense especially warshack's part

watever
