Watchmen Movie

Huh, can't believe there isn't a thread on this one yet. One of the most awe-inspiring and award-winning (Hugo!!!) graphic novels ever, now with more IMAX! :D

Can't wait! I read the whole thing while recovering from getting two wisdom teeth taken out, and from what the trailer and the teaser show, it's pretty faithful to the graphic novel. Kinda. Except for that ending bit....but oh well. :p

I know nothing about the Watchmen comic but I'm down with the trailer. The smashing pumpkins song fits perfectly too. Hope they get their law suits all settled and get this shit out.

Is the blonde (brunette in the movie) at the beginning of the second video the same girl who has the threesome with E and Sloan in Entourage?

Ulic Qel-Droma 10-22-2008 08:55 PM

dc movies fuckin rock.

uhh, what's the song in the trailers? sounds like smashing pumpkins

Ulic Qel-Droma 10-22-2008 09:01 PM

reading the graphic novel atm..
judging from the trailers they're keeping the movie quite similar to the comic book.
there are some scenes that look like they were taken right from the panels of the comic book (ie. Dr. Manhattan's disintegration)
only 4 issues in and already i can anticipate something epic..

+Kardboard+ 11-06-2008 05:24 PM

Rumours say the ending has been drastically changed, so that kinda bugs me, and the second tease shows something that wasn't in the graphic novel. Then again, it could be a dream sequence or something. Regardless, the movie will be awesome!

agentcloud 11-08-2008 01:14 PM

it must be difficult cus they're trying to fit 12 issues with a looooooot of character development from the comic book into one movie.. 3 hrs hopefully
i wouldnt mind if they just stretched it out into a trilogy

+Kardboard+ 11-08-2008 02:24 PM

Apparently the DVD version will be super-duper extended lol

lol watchfriends.. some fans just have too much time.

sad to hear so much controversy surrounding this film:
-warner bros vs fox
-writer alan moore's disapproval
-director zack snyder's pressure to trim theatrical release from 3hrs to 2hrs or less
-and lastly regarding the ending:
Spoiler!

+Kardboard+ 11-12-2008 09:15 AM

Alan Moore always disapproves of any film made from his work, but the ending really ticks me off. The original one was so absurd that it was brilliant, and if you thought about it, it would be the only type of ending that would be proper.

StylinRed 11-12-2008 10:29 AM

is the movie still being released tho?

i thought it was tied up in red tape

K-Dub 11-13-2008 09:04 PM

New trailer tomorrow before Quantum of Solace....

but I think it's already made it's way to the web.

Huh, they're right, the Doc sounds too human. I still like the first trailer and the Spike Awards ones better. :p

While many of us were enjoying last week with anticipation of Thanksgiving, both Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox had other concerns on their mind. Both studios filed their finalized motions -- each very different than the other -- for Watchmen on Tuesday (the 25th) with the lawsuit expecting to be resolved on December 15th.

Watchmen Lawsuit Decision Approaching...

While I still think that 20th Century Fox is a studio worthy of great properties, I hate them for doing this. Here is what AmLaw Daily has reported on the two motions. (thanks to Filmonic for the discovery)

It's as if the two sides are talking about completely different movies.

The two sides take very different strategies in their motions filed this week. Warners comes out firing, saying Fox, even if it did once own a right of first refusal, gave it up by not exercising it for more than a decade while three different studios batted around possible "Watchmen" projects. They characterize Fox's suit as a last-minute attempt to attach itself to a film that looks like it will be a hit. But later in their motion, the studio says it's willing to accept a partial summary judgment ruling. What that means is unclear; it could mean that Fox will end up with a percentage of distribution rights or that Warners will pay Fox an unknown amount to secure full rights to the movie.

Fox, on the other hand, is going for a home run. They ask for nothing less than the sole right to produce "Watchmen" and distribute it in the U.S. and abroad.
