Hanhook 300 and ipike is available
or yokohama W drive

triplexcel 01-04-2009 02:25 AM

just got myself a set of yokohama Guardex K2 F720.. pretty good in teh snow so far i guess. i decided to test out the tires in my back alley. i got stuck because there was simply too much snow. after 20mins of effort, i managed to get the car out then as i drive i almost swerve in to a ditch because the "tracks" are all messed up...

Another option is to go to the US to buy them. Tire Rack probably has the best select - I just checked and they have some closeout stock starting from $50 for Firestone Winterforce 205/60R15 which is a pretty good deal. They'll also mount and balance for free if you buy the wheels from them as well. I'd suggest picking them up in the US if you can otherwise, you could potentially be waiting for a while to get them.

yeah i've been SOL finding my tire size locally. advance found what i needed, but they have the ship it out of the US mideast somewhere, but it was $300 cheaper and 1 week faster than what i was quoted locally.

not if you work early in the morning... had some black ice yesterday at 5am-ish. but then getting off work in the afternoon my temp gauge was showing 12'c?!?

Lowered_Klass 02-06-2009 03:48 PM

Snow/winters should stay on until the temperature stays above 7C consistantly. :(

RabidRat 11-15-2010 11:17 PM

Bump.

I was about to get the X-Ice 2 this year but I read that they're terrible in deep snow. Ended up with a set of Blizzak WS-70's. What'd you guys get?

StylinRed 11-15-2010 11:25 PM

ive got the x-ice2 never read that about deep snow when i got em oO

never drove them thru what id call Deep snow either but they've been great so far (last winter and now)

RabidRat 11-15-2010 11:39 PM

Yeah something about how they're optimized for ice and the tradeoff was grip in deeper snow? I guess ice is probably the biggest worry around here though.

StylinRed 11-16-2010 12:47 AM

ah i see guess i'll find out if we get dumped on this year :/ (still hoping for lots of snow though!)

MindBomber 11-16-2010 12:53 AM

I'm rollin on a set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta R this winter.

toyota86 11-16-2010 02:18 AM

general arctic altimax on one
bridgestone ws70 on the other

RollingStone 11-16-2010 03:32 AM

I bought General Arctic Climax last winter and never had a chance to really use them. Hopefully, I'll be able to test them out a bit this year. :D

How many seasons do winter tires usually last?

Lol Artic Climax... for when it's jizzing snow? ;)

Depends on how much you drive, that's how long they last.

19" Blizzaks on my car

Mugen EvOlutioN 11-16-2010 10:34 AM

continental extreme winter contact ftw

ranked no.1 best snow tires in its class

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=135

RabidRat 11-16-2010 01:21 PM

Too bad there weren't any snow comparisons in that test =(.

And they all performed pretty well identically in the ice rink. So the only real differentiating factors were noise, dry/wet road handling, and responsiveness, which I care very little about compared to snow and ice performance.

Mugen EvOlutioN 11-16-2010 01:34 PM

^

actually i know all four of them are fairly close

BUT, BUT COnti has the best price

which is a huge plus

RabidRat 11-16-2010 01:37 PM

Wtf serious? I always thought Continental tires were frickin outrageously expensive! Isn't it always OEM on euro cars?

Mugen EvOlutioN 11-16-2010 01:43 PM

no man

for example

my size 225 45 17

conti $133

Michi

$146

EDIT my bad

Dunlop $123 a piece USD

Bridgestone $145 USD a piece

couple of my buddies bought COnti ultra all season DWS ranked no.1 in its category, they were super pleased with it as well as fairly reasonable pricing (in fact it was actually fairly cheap for what it is)

IM in love with conti tires, dont think im gonna switch to any other brand.

Tried falken, kumho, mich (expensive) dunlop etc

General was definitely best bang for the buck and i was satisfy with it

however im going to switch to Conti DW its max summer tires and give it a try, ranked top 2 in its class, on par with Mich PS2 max summer except its nearly half the price

a lot of high end euros likes to use Conti tires, porsche for one

max summer testing results

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=120

18" 156 a piece for conti

mich ps2 costs $214 a piece

Pirelli $225 a piece

good year $175 a piece

CorneringArtist 11-16-2010 01:59 PM

I'm using Uniroyal Tiger Paw Ice&Snow II's. 88 bucks each through a dealership hookup. I think they're Michelin's value brand?

FN-2199 11-16-2010 02:04 PM

Gislaved Nord Frost 5. Swedish awesomeness. :)
