there was a guy on redflagdeals trying to ask ncix pm from on-line order and pick up at store. they reject the order. On 1000he and they gave the guy $430

any other reasons besides how it looks?

LC21 05-18-2009 07:47 PM

aspire one was pretty ugly too imo.
the keyboard was flimsy imo, i can't eat infront of the computer, its hard to get the crumbs out of the keyboard.

How do you guys charge the Asus eee 1000he btw?
Do you leave your battery pack in regardless if it's full or not, even when you're using the computer at home?

Simplex123 05-18-2009 08:58 PM

i just leave it out when i'm at home sitting at a desk or table..
cuz there really isn't a point to use the battery when you're not on the go, moving from place to place

!MiKrofT 05-19-2009 04:47 PM

I leave it in regardless. But then again. It's not my main PC so I don't use it that much or for long lengths of time usually.

The Aspire one.. I think it's kinda ugly. As well on both 8.9" and 10" I find the LCD hinge really flimsy.

Ahh, i was thinking of just leaving in the battery in regardless, as it is my main computer, i bring it out and use it at home. So when i come home and it's 50% drained, i'll drained it completely before plugging it in again. The battery won't fuck up eh?

ecsw 05-19-2009 06:20 PM

with more than 6~8 hours of battery life, I will just use it everywhere in the house without plug it in. whenever it's 5~10% left, then I will charge it that night.

!MiKrofT 05-19-2009 07:36 PM

Well it's best to not run it down completely and charge it before it gets empty.. but if you use it use i say.

LC21 05-19-2009 10:07 PM

Damn i wish the 1000he had a playlist song switcher.. HAHA left and right =D would be sooo goood.... Dota while jamming some tunes

Hot Karl 05-23-2009 05:33 AM

i'm a total noob for these netbooks. can you guys recommend the top 3 models and i'll start doing some research and asking my computer smart buddy indepth questions?

honestly it's just gonna have music, counter-strike, streaming video and an occasional movie or two on it.

Simplex123 05-23-2009 07:01 PM

^ lol look at the last page and what we've been talking about.. 1000he 1000he 1000he
hahah
just look through the thread.

ecsw 05-23-2009 08:06 PM

not sure if counter-strike would work on 1000he, does it?

!MiKrofT 05-24-2009 06:25 PM

CS should run fine on the 1000he

Simplex123 05-24-2009 08:27 PM

yeah cs is a pretty old game.. warcraft 3 works fine on it..

Hot Karl 05-25-2009 12:31 AM

well anything besides the 1000he?

i'd rather go a bit cheaper if i can. or is anything cheaper unable to do the things i want at a decent speed?

u want cheap and you want the best? hmm....
Aspire one would probably be the only choice. some of them on sale as low as $200 refurb.

LC21 05-25-2009 09:02 AM

aspire is shit though, but its worth the money you're paying for. It's much cheaper if you're buying used/refurb.

well, it's good for the price. some 6 cells AAO going around $359 now and 3 cells with 160GB at $280 from Staples with coupon stacking. :p

Psykopathik 05-25-2009 01:06 PM

CS:S and HL2 or anything based off the HL2 engine wont really work.

CSS wont even start, HL2 crashes at every save point

i asked for a top 3 so i can do some research. obviously there would be a price difference. i didn't ask for something impossible. like i said, i'm a noob. "get this, don't bother checking out anything else" isn't very helpful. and cheaper doesn't mean "give me the cheapest netbook out there"

That's the thing. If you are looking for some games like CS, I really don't think any netbook is for you other than the one equipped with good video card which is over $800 I believe.

You see, every netbooks out there are pretty much the same IMO. Similar CPU, similar HD, similar dimensions, SAME video card. They even have very similar price. Therefore, the only thing left is how much you want to spend. The more money, the bigger screen size/battery. Don't take my word in the wrong way.

For most people here, 1000HE is the only choice because out of the same everything, the battery lasts much longer and keyboard size is a bit bigger. Not because it's anymore powerful than one another, but the add on features.

IMO, ppl buys netbooks because they are good deals. And as in deal's point of view, top 3 are 1000HE, Aspire one 9", MSI U120.

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...4&promoid=1074

You said it yourself earlier,

"i'd rather go a bit cheaper if i can. or is anything cheaper unable to do the things i want at a decent speed?"

Cheaper or not, it's about the SAME performance among all the netbook. I told you Aspire One if you want it cheap. I don't tell you this out of no where, but because I have 2 Aspire One and a 1000HE. I can't not tell the difference in speed when I browse the web, listen to music, run similar programs.

I DID NOT tell you "get this, don't bother checking out anything else". Nor is my recommendation on Aspire One a "give me the cheapest netbook out there" answer. There are netbooks cheaper than Aspire One, but Aspire one is good value for a good price. I know some people hates AAO, but I like it beside the keyboard size. It serves me very well for 6~8 months.

What i didnt like about the acer aspire one was the short battery life with the 3 cells.(Can only get 3cells AOA, at bestbuy, staples etc)

So 1000he can't run the HL2? that suxs =( i was thinking of buying a new account and playing again.
