I'm looking to pick one of these netbooks up..but not sure which one.. I browsed through these pages but i'm still a bit confused because you guys keep using 1000he or other model numbers and I dont know what brands they refer to.. Maybe someone can suggest one for me for my needs. I mainly will be using it for surfing the internet...and thats about it...the extent of my gaming on it will be fulltilt.com so naturally i dont need much lol... I just want something small that I can carry easily during my 3 week trip in europe... If there is one thing though, i'd like something with stellar battery life...that would be key. Thats about it though...surfing the internet, battery life, and small/compact. Thanks |
^battery life = go for Asus EeePc 1000HE i dont know how heavy the new Acer 10.2" is...but the Eee 1000 series was always considered a bit heavier for a netbook. and no one really games on their netbook lol |
Asus 1000HE (10" LCD) -> 8 hours battery Acer Aspire One A250 (10" LCD) -> 5.5 hours battery Acer Aspire One A150 (9" LCD) -> 5.5 hours battery MSI U100 (10" LCD) -> 7+ hours? (not 100% sure) As for performance, they are all very similar. There are more from Asus like 1008HA or something like that for lighter, smaller and all. But 1000HE wins over for most ppl here because it has 8 hours + battery life. Closer to full size keyboard and yet 802.11n and bluetooth both build-in. It's a little heavier than others, but that's also the trade off for such a long battery life. |
i have 2 netbooks right now.. acer 8'9 and hp mini 10'1.. i like the acer cause it's 6cell battery.. but hp looks way nicer.. |
Buy a real laptop if you want to play real games. Other than that, netbooks are awesome for what they are intended. |
This just came out today. If the price is right, it might be a good alternative. Archos 13, ULV Intel CPU, 10 cells battery at 1.5 kg. http://www.archos.com/products/nb/ar...try=ca&lang=en http://www.archos.com/img/archos_13/ARCHOS-13-Intro.jpg |
At 13", I don't think it would really be considered a Netbook. It looks like a Macbook Air competitor. |
^ but 1.5kg (3.3lb) with 10 cells battery is very close to the weight of 1000HE (3 lb). |
Has anyone come across a good deal for the Asus EEE 1000he? I've come across some but the price ranges so widely...does the 1000he come with different specs? or is there one standard spec 1000he? looking to get one in the next two weeks so I have it for my honeymoon Thanks in advance |

hmmmm.... you should be "busy" at honeymoon instead of checking emails/webs. j/k :D |
wtf honeymoon fail if you bring netbook. ;):p |
the lenovo s12 is out on the lenovo US site now @ $499 USD. anyone gonna upgrade their 10" netbooks to 12"? it's supposed to have the nvidia ion chipset in september too for $50 more. too bad it won't help with youtube hd videos since adobe flash is so poorly optimized. i think i might upgrade my 1000HE to the s12 once/if ncix gets it. i haven't even touched my 13" sony vaio anymore since i got my 1000HE. if i can get 1280x800 resolution with at least 5-6 hours of battery life with the s12, then i'm set. |
1005HA is on pre-order now. might worth the wait. ;) 10.5 hours claimed battery life is sweet yet lighter than 1000HE. ;) |
1000he still satisfies my needs. But realistically speaking only get around 6hrs or a little more even when i'm on power saving mode. |
Hmm my 1000HE in Win7 powersaving mode I was 4hours used and it still had more than 50% left on charge. 1005HA looks nice... but glossy screen. |
got the older 1000 with 40GB SSD a few weeks ago for $280 during a one-day sale on infonec.com loaded XP on it and it's been working great... highly recommended if you can find one for under $300 brand new. |
I play cs 1.6 on my netbook :D also have u guys looked at the new netbook by Sharp? it uses n270 but has a 4" lcd screen as a touchpad.... think iPhone |
Shut up you big bunch of nerds. His sister already bought the notebook, no more nerd talk. :D |

Hey guys, what's the difference between the HP 1030CA and the 1030NR? I would like to get one of the HP ones... 2140 too rich for my blood. :( Is the NR basically 6-cell and N, and the CA 3-cell, G and no BT? The 1030CA is on sale for $350 at FS, it is greatly tempting me because the 17" MBP is getting a bit tiresome and I would like something lighter for school. Plus, now that I have my desktop for heavy-duty processing, a netbook will suffice. |
For those who want a HP Mini with a 6-cell, Costco currently has a sale going on. $350+tax, and you can pick it up at your local Costco warehouse! http://www.costco.ca/Browse/Product....-Cat84&topnav= |
