but janseen was technically opened up and by definition injured by the ripper

i dunno how to explain it, but the tape causes a lot of friction when it rubs against the skin...so a fast movement, like a punch, is enough to open the skin from the friction of the tape.

well, the way rypien's wrist/thumb was taped, it's similar to the way we tape it for sparring. i think it's more about the intent to injure here because it's not like the tape is gonna scrape the guys nose and make it bleed :lol

had only his wrist been taped up, i don't think it would have been a match penalty.
