Downie will not be suspended according to Bobby Mack (TSN)

The fact that we come on RS when something questionable happens and have a debate on what will be suspended, and how many games it will be makes me believe that the NHL needs to have better guidelines. We question what is and is not suspendable, as does Hockey Central, TSN panel, etc. In the NBA, you have a general idea when David Stern is going to come down hard on someone. Can't the NHL have better criteria? Players seems to be confused as to what is acceptable and not.. just my two cents.

What??? He actually got suspended for that? I thought that the game misconduct was a fair call, I didn't think that there was a need for a suspension. I think that they only suspended him because Campbell is out for the rest of the season, and thought the it would only be fair to have him out for a bit too, which is bullshit. Ovie isn't dirty and didn't mean to hurt him, yes he play hard and physical, and some question his plays at times, but that's just how he plays, hard. In the video above they even point out how he gestured his hand at Campbell in kind of a sorry hope you're okay kind of way.

Fucking NHL pisses me off, giving Ovie a suspension but nothing for Downie. Bettman can suck on my left nut.

I don't think Ovie's suspension is justified. He went hard. Penalty maybe...but not a suspension.

Personally, I think suspensions should be given out on the basis of intent to injure rather than the result of hits. The Downie thing is only not a suspension because Crosby isn't injured.
