i think the focus of all vancouver fans now is for hank to win the art ross. i don't care if lu lets in 8 goals next game -- as long as hank gets a few points, it's all good.

i will admit it, before the season started, i was one person that wanted gaborik here, instead of keeping the sedins. i didn't think they had 100 points in them, but damn, boy am i glad they re-signed.

he was top 10 in GAA and SV% all season until like a month or two ago. Every goalie goes through slumps, this just happens to be Luongo's longest one to date.

its bandwagoners like you that make Vancouver a goalie graveyard

SkinnyPupp 04-04-2010 08:46 PM

Luongo = most overrated NHL player in a long, long time.

Since there is no button. You sir, FAIL.

And don't question me. I can go on and on about busted 1st round draft choices etc.

FAIL.

LUUUUUUUU 04-04-2010 08:51 PM

You could clearly see Burrows stick was on the bottom... If he didn't lift it up, there's no way both sticks would move up together like that..

Im not ripping Burrows.. I know this is his style of play, but sometimes its just not worth having something like this bite us in the ass, for a game that virtually means nothing

Not really racist! 04-04-2010 09:12 PM

that was massive chokage lol.
thank god we got it done

Blah_Teggie 04-04-2010 09:25 PM

If it turns out this way. The Phoenix vs Nashville = most boringist playoff series in history...not a superstar between those teams

Watch one of them somehow grab the cup. :haha:

Serious note though, I really hope Luongo can pick up his game. That was a gongshow last minute in regulation (Listening on the radio, I assume the reactions on fans faces were nothing short of )

Oh really, let's ask the players in the NHL then.

MOST OVERRATED
Roberto Luongo 6%
Vincent Lecavalier, Dion Phaneuf, Jay Bouwmeester, Sean Avery 4%

I'll concede that there were probably more overrated players in a "long long time" so I'll strike that from my comment. Luongo is still the most overrated player in the last 3 years though.

were posed to the players themselves by ESPN the Magazine, which recently conducted an anonymous poll of 50 NHLers.
There was only 50 players polled and 6% of 50 is 3....Yea hes definitely overrated.

Uh..... they asked 50 players... FIFTY... that means 3 players out of 50 said it.................. nice try though

SkinnyPupp 04-04-2010 09:59 PM

He still got more votes than anyone else :lol

As far as "only 50 players were asked" give your head a shake. Assuming the margin of error is low, and the sample was random enough, asking 50 is just about as good as asking all 700-or-so players. So rather than thinking "only 3 players said he's the most overrated" consider it about 40-50 players. In any case, his name will come up more than anyone else. But if you want to argue with these guys, go for it.

But you're probably right, though. Luongo is the best goalie ever, and has proven himself time and again during the regular season and playoffs. I bet he even gave up that soft goal in the Gold medal game, to make things more exciting. Right?

tonyzoomzoom 04-04-2010 10:16 PM

With a sample of 50, sampling error is only low if it was a yes / no type of question. Given that it's pretty much an open-ended question (with a choice of over 600 players), the sampling error is quite high.

nsmb 04-04-2010 10:16 PM

every fucking thread skinnypup goes into, he deletes and edits posts and removes "thanks" ...

You're making quite the assumption there... and 50 players out of the entire group of NHL players isn't even 10%!

Nobody here is saying Luongo is god (at least this season). But he's not a bust either, and the playoffs have yet to start. And I don't remember Luongo giving up a soft goal in the gold medal game...

AzNightmare 04-04-2010 10:21 PM

While I disagree with being the MOST overrated,
I do agree he IS overrated.

I would think of Luongo should be more of a top 3 or maybe top 5 goalie.
He's definitely haven't played consistently enough for me to think that.
So that's why I'm not happy.

Pupp was probably referring to the Switz game. The one where he didn't hug the damn post. :(

Harvey Specter 04-04-2010 10:40 PM

Question for you guys, seeing how the next 3 games are basically meaningless, do you guys want the Canucks to lose vs. the Avs and basically make it even tougher for the Flamers to get into the playoffs or beat the Avs and set up a crazy matchup vs. the Flamers on Sat.

woob 04-04-2010 10:45 PM

For entertainment factor (and feel good factor), I'd obvs want us to beat Colorado, which would then set US up to be the ones who finally crush the Flames' playoff hopes xD .
