I heard that the 2.0T in the Genesis is just a slight modification of the one from the Evo, the block comes from the Lancer Ralliart, and a few of the internals are different.
Also, the engineers hinted that they didn't make it a challange to hack on purpose. Always been a Honda man, but I do have to say, it will be interesting to see what tuners can do with this car.

Went to check out the genesis 2.0T, the GT package was tempting me but the $6k price difference said no way... I really dig the brakes though :(

So the guy quoted me around $500/month on a 48month finance which seems pretty reasonable  especially since leasing a wrx on a 48 month is about the same if i remember correctly, will need a test drive to seal the deal though

EDIT: wow just checked online, and just from walking in the guy offers me 4k off the MSRP!?!?!? ;)

both these threads are OLD...2-3 years ago....sooo, yeah.

1. they didn't mention crank size or compression
2. running on race gas
3. dyno'd on dynapack.. someone mentioned it would possibly read 310-320whp on a dynojet.

each dyno can read quite differently

dynapack dynos connect straight to the hubs of the vehicle i'm pretty sure. so they'll read different than a dyno with rollers

!Aznboi128 09-07-2009 10:58 PM

both are good cars

but on different levels, the civic with some minor mods will be quite good for auto-x while the genesis would be track/drag

I drove the Genesis before, it feels a little slow just because of the weight. But it's NOT a slow car, when the turbo kicks in, it feels great

similiar hp/torque rating against its competitor for the V6 engine yet slower than 350z/370z

at the end? hyundai and kia? no thank you

.

Sony/Panasonic or samsung/LG?

i will take japanese brand, thank you

You Sir is an Idiot. Sony uses alot of Samsung LCD technolgy. BTW, Sony was slow in entering the LCD market still making their trinitron tube while Samsung was already building LCD technology

Genesis Coupe 2.0 Turbo > grocery getter (CIVIC Si)

This model has been around since the last gen corolla.

I guess Honda needs to develope new (gutless I4) engines before it can release another model for the civics.

I've read somewhere that the next gen's release is delayed til 2012, and that Honda is planning on making Civic into Prius's competitor (a hybrid slightly more expensive/well-packaged than Insight).

...Yeah don't expect any more high revving engines from Honda, if the above are true we probably won't see any

You've said that in both threads. Your comments sound like hateful bash towards SI owners rather than advice to the OP. Of course, if I could rebuy a car, I would get a used STI or something instead of an SI, and I'm sure 99% of everyone on this forum would do so. But most of us don't have the luxury to do that so that's why we stick with what we got. Give it a rest already.

Drift_Monkey 09-08-2009 02:53 AM

i'm voting for the Genesis.

wait.. doesn't the insight compete with the prius? If honda make the civic to compete with the prius, them what is going to compete with the corolla?

silk 09-08-2009 07:50 AM

Toeknee 09-08-2009 07:51 AM

Oh nevermind correction... I think it doesn't apply to USDM market...

9th-gen Civic:

Due to the success of the Freed mini-van and the runaway success of the Insight hybrid in Japan, Honda is considering changing its focus of the Civic. Although the Civic Type R is still popular, it isn't as nearly as popular as before, and consequently Honda is considering making the Civic more specialized as a Hybrid platform.

Although the 2-box hatchback was popular when it was introduced in 1972, by the 90s the popularity and sales of hatchbacks declined. Consequently hatchbacks became a Europe-only model.

In Japan car sizes are delineated by license plate numbers, and with a total size measuring over 4.5 meters, the Civic could no longer be considered a compact, "city person's car."As a result, sales have been on the decline.

Since the current-gen does not have much of a presence, Honda is considering positioning the Civic as geared towards a Hybrid-specialized car. They hope by doing so that the brand value would increase, and possibly that Honda will position the Civic as a more upscale version than the Insight. As such, the Civic might become a direct competitor to the Prius, which is priced higher than the Insight.

Within the company, the next-gen Civic has the code name 2HC, and are aiming for monthly sales of 900 a month.

Overseas, it's expected that the Civic will use gasoline engines, but the exact engine has yet to be determined. Given the success of the current-gen Civic overseas (US, Europe), the line-up is likely to not change abroad: coupes and sedans for the US, and Fit-platform-based 3-dr and 5-dr hatchbacks for Europe.

What about the Type R? Right now, it's confirmed that the Type R with a sedan is not being planned, both domestic and overseas.

Hybrid CR-Z:
1.5L + electric motor, 6-spd manual as well as CVT option.
Slated for first-half of 2010 debut
Expected to see prototype at Tokyo motor show
Monthly target sales 2500 units/month in US, 1500/month in Europe, 850/month in Japan
