You simply can't make statements like that without some kind of credible source and reasons why not. |
Probably hates koreans. |
for $30k you can get: -SI with k20, which is not turbo charged. It's got incredible amount of potential even for an NA engine though. But then in the end NA is an NA. And no it's not overpriced. Overpriced would be paying $36k for DC5 -Genesis with 2.0T. Although I'm not sure if it's even any better than GTI's 2.0T which is in the same price range. or you could save up $4k more and get a mazdaspeed3. It's a better car in all aspects than either of those. or you could save up $8k more and get a base STI from the states :) |

I'd go with the Genesis. The Si is fun to drive, pretty quic, good potential etc But it's not Turbo RWD. Everybody was bitching that they wanted a budget Turbo RWD car for YEARS. Now Hyundai makes one, and people would rather get the Civic? |

I've known people who've owned Hyundai's and they all have one thing in common - they all end up hating their Hyundai. Mind you I haven't known a Hyundai driver in quite a while.. I guess they've all learned. :D I've heard Hyundai's have improved in quality. But the scar is too deep. I shall never own a Hyundai. Nor a KIA. No racist. |
^pretty racist... don't compare the brand new genesis coupe's quality to that of the original hyundai pony. They're a huge company and are pretty significant when it comes to global market share, I think you just know the wrong people (although I don't know that many hyundai owners either ;)) Don't be so quick to judge friend |
would we really be having this discussion if the civic were a 2.0L turbo stock? nope. so why are we capable of debating which is better between a 2.0L NA and a 2.0L Turbo? OH YEAH, cuz it's a k20 from Honda. as for the warranty comments, Honda has a reputation for reliability. There simply is no need to beef up the image with such a huge warranty period. |
hyundai cant back shit up so today a random company comes out with a gazillion HP and torque bang for $20g, everyone is gonna jump on the boat and snap the product without even opening? wtf no reliablity history, equals cant back shit up therefore i aint gonna be the lab mouse i will fucking pass and stick with a reliable brand. any jdm brand > korean brand that includes low selling jap brand like mitsu, subie, suzuki |
^i think it is you that cannot back shit up, to assume that they are reliable, when 5 years ago consumers reports recommended every single toyota model, but now to find that in some models the 3.5 V6 has been quite unreliable. And how about subaru and their WRX engine failures? I am not saying jap cars are unreliable, but to call every fucking one a "reliable jap brand" based on stereotyping reliable cars like the civic or corolla is quite ammusing |
+1 to Roach's insight, +1 to ilvtofu above. -1 to people who simply states opinions because Jap > Korean. Talk about some fanboys here. Try them both out and see which one will give you a better value. Also keep in mind how long you plan to keep this car for (within warranty or not), cuz then reliability would probably be just as important as all the other factors. One thing the fanboys in this thread nailed is the fact that Korean brands are still relatively new to the market than Japanese, which means it is more or less a guessing game whether Korean cars will really live up to its expectations in the long run. The Japanese have proved it, but it doesn't necessarily mean every single Japanese brand and model out there can live up to its reputation in reliability. If you want assurance in reliability at this point, I must say Honda based on their history, reputation, and quality of materials. However, for everything else, I would personally go for Genesis (because I generally don't think I will be keeping the same car for more than 5 years, but that might not be you) One last thing, don't forget about winter and snow. RWD is gonna be harder to drive than FWD in the snow. dL |

what a dilemma... Either being accused of being a "Honda fanboi" or People saying "meh... still a Korean car" |
^I think you got it wrong, Honda fanboi describing the genesis as 'still a korean car' |
it is a korean car, is it not? just because this year they release a new car doesnt make this brand a OMFG decent brand. honda fan boy eh? if so u must be a honda hater |
on paper hyundai is a better car .... but would you buy one over a honda to live with ...? probably not |
depends. Genesis is still too new. Give it a year or two to settle out any recalls or tweaks here and there. And regarding the image of Hyundai. Yes. It's a Hyundai, not as "reliable" as a Honda . . . . . . but then again, could you justify paying $26k+ for a civic? |

i cant can u justify paying $25g for a Impreza, yet along a turbo one for 10-20 g more |
25g for their awd isn't so bad |
