u went underneath and checked the tires?

um if you're next to the car u can tell what it is by the tread design...

It is stuck due to metal and metal contact.. you should able to tap the tires off with a dead blow / plastic hammer. Tap on the rubber for maximum torque.

The whole point is to clean the contact points, that is the wheel bearing area (the extrusion where the wheel rest on, use a scotchpad for that). The wheel carrier.. after everything is clean, spray both sides (wheel and wheel carrier) with lithium grease and wipe off. If your car uses nuts, use a toothbrush to clean the threads too.

If you are using alloy wheels, remember to wax the wheels before you put them on so brake dust won't stick on (when you wash and change tire). I use so left over teflon turtle wax for that.. seems to work well.

After I yanked off the tires, the hub was little lower (I had to jack it up a little more to put the new tire back on!)...I'm hoping it's just my crappy jack (the one used for the spare tire that comes with the car) and that I didn't bend the suspension...I drove the car and it feels fine...

thinking of getting these for the 2nd car.

usually mazda's, especially mazda 3's wheels are stuck to the hub. some of them i use a big ass hammer to whack it off (usually the edge of the rim, never the tire or else the bead wire might break and there will be lumps)

^ Better be a mallet. lol Or atleast a piece of wood in between.

Yeah Nick...recently picked it up as well as a 98 Civic hatch...got snow tires on that too and stock height.

torque on the lugs depends on the car.

BUT a general rule is 75-90ft lbs is plenty enough.

that's a prelude.... I think

this was last year.... I remembered

All I know is I'm still on my summers as my winters aren't here yet :(

some_punk 12-09-2009 11:02 PM

I know Ceco in coquitlam has a poster chart that they sell with torque specs and other wheel information. But that can also be found on the web like this site:

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...heelTorque.jsp

StylinRed 12-09-2009 11:58 PM

lol ive only been torquing my lugs at 20ft-lbs didn't even realize there was a suggested level until i had my winters installed at costco and i read on the sheet listing the "manufacturers suggested torque level"

never had a problem in the past though, luckily

how many pounds are you suppose to torque on OEM lug nuts?

90 pounds?

80 to 85 pounds should be good enough ;)

hahaha...that pic was taken December 24th, 2008 so the real dumpage hadn't begun.

I was too lazy to take an updated pic because I was too busy shovelling snow out of the driveway.

Acura604 12-10-2009 08:36 AM

the TL did horrible... make matters worse.. it was trapped on a driveway of a house at the end of a long icey alley which of course never gets plowed... I gave up on it and used the wife's 06 civic. BUT this time, winter tires are ON!
