If the shift knob is universal and if it has those three little screws, it should fit by tightening the three screws until it hits the shift stick on either G25 or G27. If it doesn't you can probably put some type of rubber around the shift stick until its a uber tight fit around the shift knob and put it all the way down. Those are the only two ways other then some how permanently welding or gluing it on some how. Or finding a shift knob that is meant for smaller diameter shift sticks. Hope this helps :S |
Thanks for the advice. It actually hasnt arrived yet (derp on my part, should probably wait for it to show up before asking, LOL). Anyways it got me wondering because theres no mention of any mounting hardware in the listing, only a pic with a nut/bolt thing that looks unrelated: EPR HB-LS Gear Shift Knob Toyota Supra Celica Subaru | eBay I could have got the 10mm thread ones but I eyeball-measured the shifter rod with a ruler. I guess its better to cram in a piece of rubber or electrical tape than use a lathe to modify the knob. And none of the 10mm ones had the shift pattern I wanted. :okay: |
hmmmm... judging by that picture it looks like it won't fit the way I mentioned before. That shift knob is very similar to my JDM Accord Euro-R CL1 shift knob I have in my Prelude. http://us-f4-edit.store.yahoo.com/I/..._1905_12459646 If the design is the same as this one, then you screw the nut onto the shift stick, then screw the knob on and then tighten the nut with a wrench until its solid. That's how it fits on Honda's I'm assuming its a similar style. So you most likely need to shove some rubber or electrical tape until its solid. Just get creative I guess. Its a nice shift knob though! I like it. I thought you had something like this... http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg http://www.twmperformance.com/ATIS/adapter3.jpg Most universal shift knobs come with a few different size rubber pieces to make it a tight fit and also have three or sometimes more little screws at the bottom where you screw it in all the way until it hits the shift stick. I hope I explained that correctly. I'm somewhat terrible with words, its easier for me physically show you rather then explain it hah. Hope this helps. Post a picture up once you install the shift knob! |
Yeah it really looks like the Honda one. I thought it would look like a universal one too (ring with screws like the 2nd pic). Thanks for the clarification, its gonna get interesting when I ghetto rig this with whatever is lying around. LOL Posted via RS Mobile |
so it's been a while since the last update just give us in-game saves for endurance already and upgrade a few standard into premium models. that's all i care about really...few new real world tracks wouldn't hurt either |
hey guys i've been wondering. i've started to play less and less GT5 and more of other random games..probably because im waiting for the 24hr save update. but anyways, i don't have a wheel. i'm really thinking of buying a wheel to obviously make it more fun. what are the pros / cons of a wheel ? logitech ones, not the cheap $50 ones. i've played GT, GT2 and GT4 all with dualshocks. thanks in advance! |

I guess the cons are that you have to go full out (buy/build a cockpit for natural positioning) so you dont defeat the purpose of getting the wheel, and the strong-ass force feedback makes you fight the wheel to gain control. The latter is very likely my fault because I havent found the settings page yet. You better act fast if you are thinking of getting a wheel, because NCIX has a deal ending tomorrow evening. They're selling the G27 for $280 but show the link to the guys at Memory Express and they will knock the price down 5%. --- And european, the shiftknob was exactly like your Honda one. Here it is mocked up for now, I will ghetto rig it once finals are done. :D http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/3699/123nz.jpg |

If you really want to ACTUALLY feel the physics the game has to offer..wheel all the way. like donut said you have commit not just a wheel but probably to a game stand/seat in order to fully enjoy the wheel. I see many people jumping on a wheel without a stand, play a few times, collect dust, off it goes to the buy & sell. |
had to bump this pretty sick Quote:

I did try wrapping the shifter rod with foam tape and electrical tape too but since the the threads of the knob only go about 1cm in and the rest of the knob is hollow, the rod doesnt really 'rest' on anything, hence the wobbly-ness. The extra weight does feel a bit better even though it feels like I'm tearing the knob off the controller, lol Anyways, I dont have my G27 on hand, but I managed to pick up some goodies: http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...ame/abcdef.jpg The bubble knob has the threaded adapters I need, hopefully they work on the titanium one. Will report back after I figure out how to install it |
bump! I'm selling my Driving Force Pro if anyone's interested :) not that i lost interest in the game... i'm actually planning an upgrade to a G27 :D |
I've noticed a few inaccuracies in GT5 since I started playing it about 6 weeks ago a) The Ferrari F2010 has Bridgestone Tyres on it while it should have Pirelli's b) There's a 2000 Corvette Z06 in the game which didn't exist C5 Z06 didn't start till 2001 I'm sure there's others but I've noticed those in the last couple weeks. Anyone else notice anything? You'd think with their gigantic lead time for the game and ample staff they could get these details right; then again it doesn't take away from the game at all. |

So yeah, dont worry about it too much. With a little hunting you can get the wheel for 260-ish and if youre lucky, an NCIX warehouse/grand opening type sale for around 200. |
most exciting news in GT5... looks like Spec II is trying hard to keep GT fans from playing Forza coming next Tuesday! Quote:

^ That's awesome! I can finally put down my other games and bring out my G25/Playseat and do some racing! Man, with this, Batman, MGS: HD, and a few other games I just picked up I'm seriously going to fail this semester lol |
I'm just hoping not too many of the standard car interiors turn out like this http://www.gtpla.net/wp-content/uplo...s4-640x360.jpg wtf is this shit lol cant even see any instrument dials or the steering wheel on that note cant wait to see what they did to the Supra RZ and the Veyron interiors |
if they chose to showcase that in a screenshot i won't hold my breath for the majority being a lot better apparently they used this car to model most of the new interior Spoiler! |
If this game still has the problem Mis-shifting from 1st to 2nd. Then I will let it collect dust some more. If not then I will start playing again. |
i haven't noticed that issue in a while actually. since g25/27 gets supported officially i am not sure if that will go away completely |
