The iPad however does nothing new. It takes old technology and just repackages it. I guess to play my own devils advocate you could say that about the iPod but the interface was new and that was a deciding factor, plus at the time, there was no viable competition. |

It would be kick ass with a laser keyboard and a pico projector. http://www.pdahut.com/store/files/main/d_9581.jpg http://gizmodo.com/assets/resources/..._projector.jpg |

Dont know if you guys know but preorder was available starting yesterday in the morning, but this was not for canada only for U.S. You could either get it shipped to an address in the US or you were able to reserve it at an apple store. These things are going crazy on ebay already. My friend already sold one on craigslist for $1500 for a 16gb... People are really desperate haha. |
Spoiler! |
I will buy if infact that the rumors of the no more micro sim is true cuz i would pop my 6gb data sim on there |
^^ You can trim any normal sim card to fit. There are even template cutters out there |
Got to play one on Sunday when my friend came back from his Portland trip. First impression, navigation is fast and smooth. Something I already expected. Typing on it was a pain imo as there's no feedback and you have to be focused on what you are typing. Browsing the web with it simply proved my original point of not buying it, without flash support, a proper browsing experience was impossible, it's like browsing on iphone, just bigger screen and a tad more resolution. I still had to zoom in and out in many sites I visit. Email support was pretty nice with my Mobileme account, but then again, typing is PITA, so I'd not recommend it for heavy email users. Running 1 app at a time like iPhone became incredibly inconvenient on the iPad. You'd expect to do a lot more with the iPad, but no... you can't. No tethering to iphone sucked ball, and if I'd have to pay extra for 3G for iPad, I'd say forget it. For now, a jailbroken iphone+iPad is ok. But then the iphone battery goes down the toilet if I were to use like this constantly on the go. |
Mine has been delayed. :( |
i'm actually playign with mine now, the internet speed is faster than my 3gs. I know that it's against their interests, but i'd LOVE it if they were able to tether with the iphones. (but if they didn, no on ewould buy the 3g version) Also, STILL no flash player!!!! (GGGGRRRRRR!!!!!) |

Picked up a 16GB from NYC...it's a good internet browser, media player but lack of flash support really sucks. |
the keyboard is also hard to use...you can't type like you regularly do (with your fingers resting on the keys). You can only have one finger on the screen at a time. |
They should just make a keyboard with the keys in alphabetical order. QWERTY was designed to slow down typists. The iPad needs to slow it down even more :) |

Colemak or Dvorak would be the 'fastest layouts', both which the iPad supports.. |

My comment was not about speeding up input, but slowing it down :) |
The only thing the iPad is good for: |
I just got swype for my phone and I think it would be way more useful than the current ipad keyboard.... Other than that, I have no interests in buying this.. I rather save money and get an ipod touch or iphone or an actual netbook for that matter. |
One great thing about the ipad is the battery life...i've been using it on/off for 3 days straigth and i still have 42% left. |
Im gonna wait for the 3g version and hope that the damn thing wont be locked to anybody.. I would then find a way to mount this sucker into my car then i can truely WIN ahahah |

Why 3g? You CAN tether your iPhone to the ipad (if you have an iPhone) Posted via RS Mobile |
