"won't retool their expensive libraries to accomodate the iPad" They don't need to "retool" their libraries. All their content should be stored in an industry stadard format on their servers. All they have to do is change the front-end that accesses their content to allow it to be used on different devices. Wow, what a concept. I bet this has never been done before - having your content adapt to work on various systems/browsers. That statement is clearly taken out of context and is meant to try and fool people into thinking that anyone who wants to use HTML5 must completely redo all their content. Gee, I wonder how all the other video sites were able to so quickly and easily add HTML5 support without "retooling" their libraries. |

well after 2 weeks of traveling in japan with nothing but an ipad for the first time. I have to say.. it rocks! Did everything i needed it to do...and girls love it. lol |
^You realize that liking the iPad for any reason means you're an Apple fanboi who sucks Steve Job's cock, right? Doesn't matter if you actually do find it useful, that only proves that you've drunk the Kool-Aid. |
Lets see you pull your laptop/netbook out in the middle of a busy city to look up information. And walk around with it. Also, I like pussy. I like anything that helps me get more. btw, not sucking steve job's cock doesn't make you not gay. And in this case.. it makes you really gay and stupid. :) |
Played around with darthchilli's gf's ipad last night and its fun :o |

If I need to look up something, I'll pull my phone out. |
you can also use a backpack. most people do when backpacking. ...to look at the time? I guess it is fine if you don't mind paying for international roaming. |

learn to read DuhDang. !LittleDragon, I had all the information stored on my ipad already. Also I had this cool offline map app. If you want to travel ultra light. ipad is the way to go. I had one 14lb backpack for the trip. netbook would have added an extra 1.5lbs. :) Of course it isn't a laptop replacement. But it helped me get by 14 days without laptop. |
I still think it's too big for that purpose. All this info can be stored on a cell phone. I was able to get around New York a few years back with my old Winmo phone. Garmin, Tom Tom, iGo, iGuidance, etc... you have a lot of choices for offline navigation on a cell phone. I actually used it the last few roadtrips, it got me to Vegas and LA, I used to have the passenger hold a laptop with a GPS receiver on the roof. I still bring the laptop to view movies but I can easily go without it now. I recently made the move to Android so I don't know how the next trip will go, doesn't seem to be as many GPS programs for Android as there are for Winmo. |
Ying is getting so much hate in here :mamoru: I can see where he's coming from and can sort of picture it in my head. Yes a laptop or cell phone can work but I can see why an iPad would also work in this situation. You pull it out. Press a button and you're ready to go. No need to hold up the laptop while opening the screen or trying to surf on a tiny cell phone screen. |
