Case in point, Apple OS 4.0 isn't true multitasking - it allows for multiple Apps to remain open and they can be resumed exactly where you left off. But since it's not multitasking like Windows 7 is, all the haters are bitching about how "useless" OS 4.0 is when it comes to multitasking. Bottom line is true multitasking is a useless feature to have on a phone. I mean, it's just a damn phone. It's not a laptop/desktop so why are people whining about lacking a feature that a desktop would have? Apples approach to "multitasking" makes far more sense on a phone than "true" multitasking. |

Having two programs open at once isn't really multitasking - you aren't doing anything with both programs, you just have them open sitting there. If the definition of multitasking were just to have two or more programs open at once sitting there, it wouldn't be hard to implement. And the point about ebuddy - I use ebuddy all the time. The app allows for push data and messages to be sent to my iphone from the IM contacts, even if I'm in the middle of a game or watching a video. At that point, i have the option to respond or continue with whatever I'm doing, but I'm still getting messages, and my status is whatever I've set my status to be: online, away or whatever. Just because ebuddy isn't running in the background doesn't mean I'm not getting messages, or not able to respond to messages, or that it kicks me out of MSN or whatever IM i'm logged into. |
LOL HP Slate. First no one cares about the sneak peek. Now it might not even get made. http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/30/h...mill-says-yes/ Seriously, running Windows 7 on hardware that fits in a picture frame? |

Jailbreak is finally out for the ipad. http://modmyi.com/forums/ipad-news/7...en-spirit.html Jailbreaks works for All Iphones and Ipod touches. |
No kidding HP dropped the idea of a Windows 7 tablet. Just wait until the first reviewrs got one and commented on how "slow" it seemed compared to the snappy iPad. |
Report: U.S. Government to Launch Apple Antitrust Probe Over iPhone Flash Lockout http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=18287 :):):):):):):) :haha::haha::haha::haha::haha: :thumbsup::thumbsup: |
^ Never gonna happen. If Apple had over 90% of the market (like Windows does on PC's) then maybe you could file antitrust, but with so many players in the smart phone market I just don't see anything coming of this. Don't like lack of Flash on iPhone - buy another phone that supports it. Pretty simple. It's only when there's no choice available to the consumer that this comes into play. For example, Explorer coming pre-loaded on Windows machines. |

^ There are countless industries where a company controls the "hardware & software". You don't hear about them being involved in antitrust cases. In fact, the vast majority of electronic devices sold in Best Buy or Future Shop have proprietary hardware/software. TV's, stereos, MP3 players, digital cameras - how come they aren't being forced to allow you to run third party software on them? What about gaming consoles? If they can go after Apple then for sure they can go After Sony for the PS3 and MS for the XBOX. And so on. BTW, there's no antitrust suit against Apple. They haven't even decided if they're going to do an investigation. After the investigation, then they decide if a suit is warranted. This shouldn't even be a news story yet. Must be some Apple haters publishing this info, 'cuz it means squat at this point in time. Like I said, nothing is going to happen over this. |

$19 for this? http://storeimages.apple.com/1690/as...d=0&layer=comp and $35 for this? http://storeimages.apple.com/1690/as...d=0&layer=comp $54 just to charge an MP3 player or a phone. You can buy knock off that look and perform exactly the same for under $5 shipped for both. |
^ You've got to be kidding me. Way to completely miss the boat. Why don't you try to develop games for the PS3 and then tell Sony "hey, I can't use xxx development tool or yyy software" and see how far you'll get. Or complain about the lack of support for a certain rendering technology. Or call up Nikon and say you want to be able to save pictures in both Nikon and Canon RAW formats so you have a "choice". "Software" is not the content like music and videos - it's the actual software used by the computer processor in the (TV/MP3 player/Blu_ray player/Refrigerator) to operate it. |
So anyone who owns this thing.. can they give their thoughts on the ownership so far? How often do you use it.. what you use it for.. where you use it? What do you like about it.. what don't you like about it.. etc.? |

Apple also banned the use of automatic translation tools so you have to make 2 different versions of the software. |

Nokia charger from Rogers cost $19 also many phones are now using Mico USB cables. The cell phone industry is going for a standard charging solution were as Apple still wants to stay proprietary. |
^ You have clearly no idea how the tech industry works. There are thousands of closed systems where the hardware/software is controlled by the company selling the product. This is done so the company can maintain very tight control over how the end product works and what the user experience is like. This is not illegal. As I said before, the solution is simple. Don't like the iPhone/iPad and what's happening with Adobe? Then don't buy one. Personally, the sooner Flash dies the better. There's no need to rely on a third party plug-in (that's controlled by a private company) in order to browse the web when open, industry standards like HTML5 are coming in. Even Microsoft is getting behind HTML5. Maybe they should file an antitrust suit against Adobe. By forcing people to have to download and install Flash just so they can browse the web, Adobe is forming a monopoly. The web is supposed to be open to anyone, but apparently if you don't own the right software (Flash) then you don't get the full benefit. Funny how the EU could force Microsoft to let users pick between several browsers so they "have a choice in how they want to acces the internet", yet they haven't allowed users the ability to access the internet without using Flash. |

Adobe isn't forcing anyone to use Flash but it is an option for developers. Apple is putting a gun to developers heads. Closed systems are a thing of the past. |
Officially JAILBROKEN!!! |

I don't see how you can say Apple is "putting a gun to developers heads". As I said, you have no idea how the tech industry or software industry works. A lot of companies and systems have very strict rules for developers to follow. Don't like the rules? Develop for someone else. Considering the large number of developers that are writing apps for the App Store, it seems a lot of people are deciding to work within Apple's "rules". And considering how much money many of them make, I bet they are quite happy. Flash what? Adobe who? Closed systems will never go away. There are too many industries that need tight control of their systems (for example, to maintain reliability & security) to allow developers to simply "roam free". This has been going on since the birth of the computer in some way or another, and is never going to change. |
^^ Apply fan boy. |
^ Hardly. Only thing Apple I own is an iPhone, and that's because I needed a new phone and wanted an MP3 player and was eligible for an upgrade from Rogers. I kept my last cell phone for 3 years beore it crapped out. I run an i7 920, dual 80GB Intel SSD's, dual 5870's (watercooled) and I built it myself as I've been doing for years. I just hate the haters, and Apple haters are some of the most ridiculous. Just like Apple fanboys. |
