The sauce is gochujang based (Korean red hot chili pepper paste), sweet and a little spicy. Tasted good. Worth trying. 2 pieces is about $3.50. |
I can explain why Max's chicken is popular among Filipinos but shiet for most of us. I am filipino myself but i honestly dont like their chicken either but its popular here. The way you eat the chicken is you add "banana ketchup" (ketchup made out of banana instead of tomato) and its suppose to complement the chicken well. If you try eating just the chicken by itself its no different from deep frying a chicken with just salt and pepper, dry and tasteless. I find it to be an aquired taste. |
Max's really opened in Vancouver just to pander to the local Filipino community looking for the nostalgia of back home anyways. Price-wise, it's like Swiss Chalet, and just as bad. If I wanted a Filipino take on fried chicken, I'll grab Chickenjoy from Jollibee in Seattle, or stick to Church's :troll:. |
Fried Chicken form a Smoking Georges BBQ in Nanaimo. Cost me around $15 for 3 pieces. Great chicken just wish it was spicy. http://viphotobooth.smugmug.com/phot...-D43Zfvw-L.jpg http://viphotobooth.smugmug.com/phot...-VJLnhsp-L.jpg http://viphotobooth.smugmug.com/phot...-NkwZBpq-L.jpg |

Went to Dae Ji Pork Cutlet House on North Road (BBY) and noticed they expanded their menu. They got Fried chicken with Fried Potatoes & Sour Daikon now. Also got fried chicken with soya sauce and spicy sauce. I like it! I prefer the regular over the soya sauce. I dipped the chicken with the spicy cheese rice cake sauce....so yummy! Menu & Price: DaeJi Food Pork Cutlet Restaurant |
