^ thats horrid presentation imo....waste of fresh rosemary |
^ LOL! I saw that and was like :heckno: Not sure what to think of St. Augsitine's. They have a bit of an identity crisis - a dive bar or a wannabe upscale pub on The Drive. |
its more of a pub than anything....i wouldnt go there to eat dinner id go to have a couple beers and a appy |
i was just at charlatan today, its pretty reasonable for drinks. food is just your average, but girls are a little above. |
1. The fried chicken was pretty good. Not as good as home, but I think better than the KFC and churches by a bit. 2. Gravy was ok, a touch salty, but not overly so. 3. Onion rings were WAY too salty. 4. Coleslaw was total meh. Not gross, but not good either. For $16, it's actually pretty good considering you're getting this at a pub. The rosemary isn't wasted. It's been deep fried. Eat it along with your chicken. It's good. And I for one am happy that they have decent food as well as an extensive beer collection. I mean, it's not like they are charging a lot more for their beer to have decent food there. I'd even go so far to say that their poutine and pizza was well above expectations. |
"wasted rosemary" thats funny. rosemary grows on huge bushes and is extremely plentiful. |
Max's on Kingsway is now open, anyone tried? |

i love using it for roast lamb and chicken then take it out when the roast is done but would never eat it alone it tastes like pine leaves. |

I've tried Max's chicken. They only sell it as a whole chicken for $14. They deep fry the entire chicken. The brine they use has lemon/lime in it. To me it just tastes like those whole roasted chicken you get at walmart/superstore but deep fried, but its 5.99 at the super market. It could have been like that because I didn't eat it at the restaurant, and got take out. |

Wasted my time going to try Max's Chicken today. I show up at noon, they're supposedly open for dinner only despite their menu showing all day breakfast. :rukidding: |
I went to Chicken World on tues and bought 10 piece for dinner and it was pretty disappointing, I was expecting fresh fried chicken but instead I just got pieces that were from the heated tray. :rukidding: I don't know if it had anything to do with being on a Tuesday so everyone just went to KFC. Anyways the chicken turned out to be pretty dry on the inside :heckno:, but the skin was very crispy even though it wasn't fresh fried and not oily like churches/kfc, the zucchini sticks were pretty good though, was fried when we ordered and was still crispy by the time I got home and not oily. |
THIS THREAD STILL UP? CHURCHES IS KING OF CHICKEN /thread |

just had churches, so fucking guuud. |
Theres sizes for zucchini? I think there's only 1 size cuz it wasn't pictured on the menu so I asked the guy if they had it and he said yes like $ 2 for 4-8 pieces depending on size, and I got like 8 pieces, each piece was like the size of a potato wedge, more than I expected Posted via RS Mobile |
i like bobs sub chicken. I think they have that fritou stuff. It's ok, I usually get a piece with a fried egg (that I put ontop of a grilled ham and cheese) edit: found a ipc http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...79862009_n.jpg |
chicken world is overated. not enough seasoning and too dry imo... taste like it was from a buffet. Churches chicken is still the best! |
Had churches chicken the other day. Told the guy to make fresh chicken, and he said he just took the chicken out. :sweetjesus: |
mmm... crispy, juicy, finger burning goodness. |
