Reminder for those who don't know (at least I didn't know)

You need to shovel the snow off your sidewalk before 10 am or else you'll be slapped with a fine of $250.

Quote:

All Vancouver property owners and occupants are responsible for clearing snow and ice from the full width of sidewalks that surround their property by 10 am on the morning following a snowfall, seven days a week.

I don't get the point if shoveling the sidewalk when all of the snow gets pushed on to the road anyways. It's makes it harder for drivers to park and drive through giant mounds of snow. They should change the law so people shovel snow off the road on to the sidewalk

^ it's generally for the safety of pedestrians and postal workers. when i shovel snow i place it either on the lawn or somewhere else out of the way of pedestrians and traffic.

has anyone else lived on a major street before? back in 2008 i did, and everytime the plow trucks passed by, my driveway would be blocked by snow again :fuuuuu:

Yep, i live on a major street in Richmond. I had to clear an entrance/exit or else I'd get stuck

every winter I get a kick out of reading comments from some of you lower mainlanders. the sidewalk comment is winning this year so far

RiceIntegraRS 11-20-2010 10:36 AM

is there supposed to be another big snow fall like last night coming up soon?

MindBomber 11-20-2010 10:56 AM

6insomnia9 11-20-2010 11:03 AM

^

soo fast :c

It might snow a bit tomorrow though :o

StylinRed 11-20-2010 11:17 AM

i find it easier to trudge through snow than a shoveled walk since not all the snow is ever shoveled and what's left is slippery as fuck

Purely 11-20-2010 11:33 AM

all of the snow is melting :(

+1
walking on fresh powdered snow is always easier than walking on half assed shoveled sidewalk

the snows melting :( black ice tomorrow morning

MindBomber 11-20-2010 12:27 PM

+2
I broke my ankle on a slippery sidewalk, that had just been shoveled and was off work for over a year.

If shoveled sidewalks are the law, salting them needs to a law too.

hotong 11-20-2010 12:40 PM

all the roads cleared?

gloors 11-20-2010 12:45 PM

^ basically. snows melting away but I think were getting more tonight or tmr D:
