Well, this thread escalated quickly...

...in the best possible way it can!

Congrats and enjoy the holidays as soon-to-be husband and wife.

That would have made the hike a lot harder for her, lugging a BBK all the way up there in her backpack... :lawl:

Back to snow and salt talk.........

Canadian Tire near Ikea will have a shipment of about nine skids of Alaskan ICE Melt. Sometime between 8:00 am and 9:00 am. This is what the store manager told me. He also said another shipment will arrive on Thursday - I hope this doesn't turn out to be a McPizza post, hee hee.

godwin 12-13-2016 05:08 PM

Oh Alaskan brand of salt is not NaCl (like Windsor).. it is CaCl2 + urea mixture.. So now you know.. out of salt? just piss on the pavement. Oh CaCl2 is from limestone, it absorbs moisture but it also known effect to make male balls fall off.. ;) go easy with that stuff.

Honestly whether the salt will "hurt" your concrete really depends on how much you use AND what shape your concrete is in, don't use it if your concrete has cracks, you don't want the snow to melt and water to seep through your concrete cracks and expand... ALSO You are not supposed to use the salt to melt the snow so you don't need to shovel.. (I saw a guy just dump bags of salt on his driveway and walk away).

Oh pro tip.. if you do apply salt, do make sure there is a path for the water to run off, if not then you will get some black ice, when the ice eventually reforms.

twitchyzero 12-13-2016 10:08 PM

i guess their safety protocol doesn't factor in blindspots caused by hills
i think the bigger issue is how about the vehicles slow the fuck down descending an icy slope...that black truck came flying down

Where are the flag-people? :fulloffuck:

Generally American road laws are quite similar to ours, so I actually think they aren't following regulations... like placing the big orange construction zone signs, etc.

On the flip side, if this was a city job. We'd have what, 5 flaggers on each side , about 4 traffic cars to cordon off traffic, multiple supervisors and one person actually doing work?

godwin 12-13-2016 10:23 PM

When he say arrive, does he means it is the back of the warehouse and they will have to unpack it? or it will be available in store already?.. The store managers' estimates never seem to jive with reality in my experience as a customer.

Thursday one sounds more promising.. since it is $50 off with $200 purchase?

Thanks for the info. Might check tomorrow morning before i go into work at the bby location

320icar 12-14-2016 05:10 AM

Richmond Costco, I just unloaded 1 pallet of 20kg bags of Alaskan ice melt. Will be on the front fence closes to the first register as you come in. Doors will open at 9:45am, be there if you want a bag

MG1 12-14-2016 05:11 AM

Eight skids of Alaskan now at Home Depot on Henning Drive. Limit of ten bags. Weird but 10 kg cheaper than 20 kg. Also 400 bags at Terminal.

Edit: Just me and one more guy at 6:00 am. I guess everyone's got em now. I'm pretty much set. Just gotta rotate the stock, lol. And, my balls are feeling funny right now.

boibuddha 12-14-2016 06:19 AM

I think I may have met you MG1, the one guy I saw said exactly the same thing.

This was just after 6am. I ended up buying 4 of the 10 kg bags
