I think that's the biggest factor. Another one might be cuz private school families can often arrange for or afford emergency childcare (or take a day off), whereas public school families have nowhere else to send their kids, or taking a day off is not an option.

Take Skytrain home. I'll pick you up at Sperling station............ oh, wait, Surrey = never see your car again, lol.

I just drove out to Delta and back from Vancouver. Was loving the lack of traffic, until I hit the steep Oak/Granville area. Thought it was a bad idea (I needed to drive through the residential steep area in there) on my all seasons. Luckily they blocked off the really steep roads as there would be idiots who would attempt it. I just drove down there to see how the roads were. I got stuck pretty damn quick. Slicker then ice. Only thing that saved me getting back onto Broadway was the old manual traction control (Brake and gas). Took the main roads home and parked it. Will take EVO or Car2go if I need to get anywhere. Atleast they have winter tires i'd assume.

Just spoke with a customer that works at the Richmond school board n that's the exact reason he gave me regarding closing public schools vs private schools.

Car2go have all-seasons. EVO have M+S rated all-seasons.

Any time I've used a rental vehicle in the winter ie Budget, they didn't have vehicles with snow tires. I haven't rented in almost a decade so perhaps that has changed.

josayeee 12-09-2016 03:15 PM

Stopped snowing in North Van.. Roads are more wet/slushy. Anyone know what Burnaby is like at the moment?

Adorkami 12-09-2016 03:16 PM

Right before I got to my house there was an accident on Parker just west of Holdom in North Burnaby. Area has been shut down for about 1 1/2 hours and still no tow truck, just a fire truck and cop car.

Got some nicely buried inventory at work now. Snow day sale for y'all. :lawl:

AzNightmare 12-09-2016 03:57 PM

Not seeing much snow on the roads near my work area...
Not sure what's everyone talking about...

Road is just lightly covered with a layer of snow.

Modo and Zipcar are the ones to look to for Winter Tires. Modo's got a huge fleet of winter tired cars.

had my winter tires on, guy literally turned around to un-stuck me
he is the real mvp

soo, because I saw this video, just now on my way home I saw a guy that was stuck, so I stopped, got out of my car and helped to push him out of the ice patch that he was stuck on.

took literally 30 seconds but I hope I made his day.

Inaii 12-09-2016 05:01 PM

I pulled my drivers off the road at 3pm because the roads were so bad in Coquitlam. Afaik, Westwood Lordco did the same. Left the rx parked at work, got it stuck in the middle of our lot trying to park closer to the door. Manager was standing on the front steps laughing at me (he hates imports).
