starting to stick here in Vancouver

mikemhg 12-09-2016 12:17 PM

Coming down mad hard here in North Burnaby.

Can anyone answer this one though, I was looking at the school closures this morning for shits and gigs, and I noticed all the closures were pretty much private schools?

Why is that? Does god not teach when it snows?

fishCak3s 12-09-2016 12:17 PM

Start falling hard here in south Burnaby around market crossing

Private schools almost always close before public schools do, I think public schools try to stay open as long as possible because they kind of act as daycare for a lot of families, whereas private schools don't serve the same function.

6o4__boi 12-09-2016 12:20 PM

probably cus students in private school more likely to be from all over versus public where students tend to live relatively close

jjson 12-09-2016 12:22 PM

Aaaaaannnd it just stopped. Market Crossing area. Dafuq weather?! make up your damn mind!

Nlkko 12-09-2016 12:23 PM

I don't really believe that's true, I went to a private school and my school never fucking closed which pissed me off lol but then again, it could be just my school that stayed open

Just my assumption, 6o4_boi's reason might be more legit

6o4__boi 12-09-2016 12:29 PM

:fulloffuck:

aaaaaaaaaaaaaand an accident on Hwy 1 after Kensington EB
It's fucking 1:30 with light volume.
Fuck these idiots.

GS8 12-09-2016 12:29 PM

I always thought it had more to do with things like public schools having buses but also in weather like this, a slip and fall could happen to anyone. Maybe the private schools don't want to take that chance so they call a snow day?

On a day like today where advance notice was given, the students were probably given take-home work anyway.

EDIT: Richmond-Lansdowne is feeling the fluff right now. I think I'll remain indoors...

thumper 12-09-2016 12:31 PM

someone i know at the w.6th police station in vancouver says it's like a blizzard...

It's started to dump again in the Newton area

EvoFire 12-09-2016 12:47 PM

It's snowing sideways at Waterfront and Burrard. It's sticking and it's slippery as hell. Cold too as the snow is wet.

whitev70r 12-09-2016 12:49 PM

Coming down steady in South Van. Finally, the snow storm has started. If you can close shop early and head home, it'd be a good idea.
