huge shoutout to the New Westminster city workers for plowing the roads

yall are the real MVPs :fuckyea:

Presto 12-12-2016 07:14 AM

The trucks were rolling all night in Langley. Was hoping the office would get closed, but shutting down 2 days in a row would pwn us during this busy time.

avatar very much related to your reaction to the plowed roads this morning?

jing 12-12-2016 07:21 AM

About 4" of fresh powder where I live in Coquitlam. Took nearly an hour to get up the street, living on the bottom of a hilled cul-de-sac did not work out well for my Conti DWS on a FWD car. Fiancée has the 4WD with Blizzaks which managed much better than I did. Main roads are all fine on the way out to South Cambie area.

blkgsr 12-12-2016 07:23 AM

coquitlam main roads were ok, hastings was clear. pretty easy drive in from coquitlam to downtown this morning

driving up to whistler friday afternoon then leaving yesterday afternoon was sure fun...4 wheel unplanned drift will sure make you pucker

pastarocket 12-12-2016 07:24 AM

-heard a person's car on our block get stuck in the ice this morning.

There was only about 3 cm of snow in my area of East Van last night.

-fairly easy commute to work today. :D

whitev70r 12-12-2016 07:58 AM

South Van, another EASY commute along Marine Dr. Must be people taking transit? Absolutely no congestion at Knight St. bridge, I can really get to like these conditions.

So the worst may not be over for the people in higher elevations.
Projected to be -7 to -9C over night for the next few days.

My co-worker didn't make it in to Port Kells and he's 20 minutes away however the secretary who lives in Burnaby bossed it. I texted him and let him know the Secretary has bigger balls then he does and reminded him what a pussy he is.

Alex Fraser bridge is closed again.

In all the years that bridge has been open and all the winters it's been through, I've never heard of it closing because of ice bombs. Now it's a regular thing? Wtf

Presto 12-12-2016 12:18 PM

^^^
Well that just sucks. Wait out rush hour at a pub, if you can!

All the major Langley roads have been plowed. Some of the backroads are plowed, too. Also, fuck that intersection with the stop signs by the Events Center

dammit. this means the pt. mann and patullo are going to go to hell after work today, if not already

Liquid_o2 12-12-2016 12:24 PM

I had to drive from East Van to my doctors office in North Delta, and then to work in Richmond this morning. Used the Alex Fraser both times, no issues. I suppose if they view it as a safety risk, they have to close it until they get it cleared.

badgerx3 12-12-2016 12:27 PM

they must've just closed the whole bridge recently... it was open but both right hand lanes on each side of traffic were shut down

Gh0stRider 12-12-2016 12:46 PM

RCMP officer pointed at mewhile he was driving by in the morning. He probably knew what I was up to.

Gh0stRider 12-12-2016 01:42 PM

Alex Fraser shut down both directions. Damn. Falling ice.

Liquid_o2 12-12-2016 02:01 PM

Google Maps traffic is crazy right now. Dark red for the 99 southbound to the tunnel all the way from Bridgeport. New West is a gong show.

Dragon-88 12-12-2016 02:03 PM

Any places in Van/BBY/COQ where we can get salt? I got mine over the weekend, just asking for a co-worker

6o4__boi 12-12-2016 02:07 PM

^ can't remember who said earlier in this thread but check the pet stores

Liquid_o2 12-12-2016 02:09 PM

Yah, PetsMart has ice melt that is safe for pets and humans. I got 2 bottles. Its like $10 for 3.8kg. Not sure if they have it anymore.

R&R 12-12-2016 03:43 PM

Alex Fraser is open now!

320icar 12-12-2016 03:44 PM

It's -1 out in Richmond, dropping fast. All the wet roads are becoming ice, especially in my neighborhood. Even with my snow tires I almost hit the outside of the round about when the road was black ice
