Posted 19 minutes ago on Environment Canada's site: A Pacific front over the British Columbia coast is still giving snow to the lower mainland this morning. The Arctic air that has been with us for nearly two weeks is finally being flushed out by milder Pacific air, however the intensity of the precipitation is causing it to still fall as snow in most areas. The snow will change over to rain this morning, although higher elevations and those farther inland will see some delay in this transition. The moderate rainfall in combination with melting snow could cause localized flooding today. Culverts and catch basins should be kept clear. ### Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.tempetepacifique-pacificstorm.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports to #BCStorm. |
its pretty bad from rupert broadway to main st. its like driving in a back alley but for the main roads. ice everywhere. passed 6 busses and a semi which wasnt going to make a 15 deg incline hill. plus commercial station has 100s of ppl waiting for b line. |
what a gong show from coquitlam to downtown via the barnet slow going for the most part nothing too crazy. at hastings and kensington 4 cars stuck blocking all of west bound hastings....no problem, just rip up oncoming traffic (none there) and back over the median and keep going...probably 5 of us did it. man i love 4x4 just a slushy nightware |
Google maps traffic is pretty much all orange and red :heckno: |

was news to me too LOL. looked like fun though |
A few power outages this morning. |
Near my house it's all melted off the roads and cars, at work 15 minutes away still snow.........wtf. |
From south Richmond to Oak and 41st was fine, just like driving in the rain. North on Oak from 41st started to get slushy. Very slow stop and go traffic as C&W hospital campus entrance was backed up and took up the right lane from everyone wanting to turn. |
All that rain/snow mix put a lot of weight on lines/trees knocking power out everywhere. Gongshow right now haha |
Just saw a plow and salt truck finally Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Made it up the slushy unplowed street by throwing it in reverse putting more weight on the front wheels. Prior to that I made it up about 10 feet mostly via the one tire fire method. I'm glad the warmer air is coming back in, otherwise my DWS are toast after this season. Highway 1 is moving surprisingly well where I'm sitting right now with a good view of just after the Willingdon exit |

No power on broadway between Nanaimo st - Renfrew st... All the busses gonig eastbound are stopped, blocking traffic... |
South Van just rain, slush. Traffic on Marine Dr was easy peasy, nothing near Knight ... maybe a combination of no school and people taking transit. Loving it. Now the wind is really picking up. |
A picture of my morning commute, plowing my way from Surrey to Burnaby http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...pseff3vqwz.png Here is side profile of my girl. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psiwjtmkh9.jpg If you don't already have snow tires, you really should avoid going out today. |
I do not understand how some drivers think they can drive up hill on Grandview highway to go past Fraser Street in east Van without snow tires. -saw a bunch of cars with emergency flashers on as they attempt to go up the hill on Grandview highway towards Fraser. It didn't end well. :lawl: -so many cars stuck on that hill. I just make a right turn to go through a side street and make a left turn on to Broadway to avoid that gongshow. :troll: |
4hi ftw |
Lol none of my neighbors removed the ice/snow/slush off their hedges. Now they're all leaning 45° or on the ground. Mine's nice and green, standing proud :awwyeah: |
holy shit i ragret taking Barnet to work today it's a fucking gong show cus the lights are out at the end of it. was so tempted to make a left on the street just before Barnet turns to Hastings, the one with the no left turn restriction cus I'd been stuck in parking lot traffic for 30+ mins. This was at around 830 am and the restriction was until 9am. I thought meh, cops couldn't possibly be around. But decided to suck it up and abide by the rules because Murphy's law. Guy behind me seems to have hesitated as well but he decided to go for it. 30 seconds later i see a marked SUV make a left and and turn on the lights. whew |
20cms in New West this morning, but it was pretty clean by the time I got to Byrne road area. |
wtf happened with hwy 1 this morning?!? nothing was plowed and there was several inches of wet snow over hardpacked ice. i was forced to go eastbound trying to make for the pt. mann bridge because there was a jacknifed semi blocking the patullo. the burnaby lake stretch was the worst. if you lose your death grip on the steering wheel and catch a frozen rut you find yourself changing lanes whether you want to or not, which seems to be what happened to someone unfortunate on the westbound side, where traffic was a standstill at 6am when i passed by all those pretty emergency lights... very festive. not. |
|
Busses backed up on main street and I parked on the street :( they haven't moved since like 815 so my car's been stuck. |
