Holy crap. At least a foot of snow got dumped over night.

Damn it snowed heavy overnight. Had a hell of a time getting out of my neighbourhood this morning, almost didn’t make it.

Then I realized I left my parking brake on :rukidding:

Idk why the city of BBY never plows roads that lead to popular destinations. Ie. Wayburne goes directly to BCIT. Never plowed

When I got off work earlier this morning, none of the Vancouver side streets were plowed at all like wtf lol

twitchyzero 02-24-2018 10:59 AM

called in for half day work in Surrey last min...highway cams looked clear so i took it

surprisingly easy for fwd a/s...just a foot of soft powder side streets nothing icy didn't get stuck

visibility port mann and just east of it was very poor though...foggy but very bright...need polarized shades

You know, I was driving the family SUV (with AWD) on some fairly new all seasons, and it was surprisingly easy to go anywhere -- including the totally unplowed side streets. The snow we're having right now is very easy to manoeuvre -- basically a soft and slightly powdery / damp fluffy snow. As long as you know what you are doing and how much traction you have, I'd say the snow we're getting now is as easy to drive as snowy roads get.

Made it to work incident free then got stuck in the parking lot at work :lawl:

twitchyzero 02-24-2018 12:02 PM

nah it gets hard as a puck you're a gigantic cheap-ass without space for dedicated winters when it averages a week of 1cm of snow in the city :ilied:

Exactly. When they get hard, they don't grab nearly as well.

If you don't do spirited summer driving and you can't have 2 sets, consider all-weather tires. Those are more similar to winter tires in terms of construction and they have the snowflake symbols on them. Nokian WRG3 was pretty good when I had it for my Accord V6. I only got stuck at the bottom a very slushy and steep hill, but otherwise it's great.

All weathers are great for Vancouver weather. That's how I got to school today LOL. I did get stuck in the deep stuff, like you said

Great, it's suppose to rain tonight. Side streets are going to be a slushy mess tomorrow morning.

Badhobz 02-24-2018 02:34 PM

boooo.....

blkgsr 02-24-2018 02:56 PM

the water pooling in the roads due to blocked drains is going to be brutal

Acura604 02-24-2018 02:56 PM

Yup...that was definitely the last hurrah for snow.....temps climbing. ...all seasons prepped for reinstall next weekend.

There is the ride height issue. Your Bimmer is lowered, and my stock Accord Coupe wasn't very high off the ground, either. As long as the snow isn't too deep, all-weather will do very well.

Remember that since all-weather is closer to winter tires, so summer performance will not be as great. That's why I have 2 sets now; I want the best grip and handling in the summer.

Was pretty snowy in the barren lands today

I think I did a good deed last night, helped the next door neighbor shovel their driveway as they struggled with a dirt shovel and a small snow shovel.

This morning's commute in Richmond was pretty interesting... Folks driving +50k cars with 2/3 of their windshield covered.

Friday's snow day. Totaaally safe!

That's why people need to take a few extra minutes and clear a path to the drains. It's not rocket science.

I was surprised to see the CoV folks around town today clearing out snow and slush from the gutters and openings to side streets. At least they're learning a little bit from last year.
