Lougheed hwy, the pitt river bridge and mary hill bypass were not plowed this morning. Talk about a fun drive to work LOL

CivicBlues 12-30-2021 10:27 AM

What the fuck do we pay ever increasing property taxes for? More virtue signaling idiots to sit on council?

My street still haven't been plowed from the snow last Friday LOL

whitev70r 12-30-2021 11:34 AM

Sun is melting everything ... in my hood.

GLOW 12-30-2021 12:12 PM

the real question we should all be asking is...are the bike lanes plowed though?

SumAznGuy 12-30-2021 12:48 PM

Just finished shoveling my car out of my driveway and the 2 ft snow bank from the snow plows.
A good 8 inches of snow last night.

Now in the sun, my car is showing 3C.

It's gonna be an ice rink tonight.

Someone asked about a great place to take their kid sledding sliding down hillside. Best place, if you’re in Burnaby is Alpha Secondary. Need to make sure you’re there to stop your kid from going straight into traffic. It’s not crowded at all. Come to think of it, most of the secondary schools in Burnaby have huge hills. The one by Gaglardi. Hell, even North Burnaby Secondary has a few nice slopes. I used to take my children to the hill at VCC and the one by Knight and 33rd. Good times. Crowded as fuck, but that’s what made it great.

Nothing beats Horizon's parking lot on Burnaby Mountain but it's a long hike back up the hill.

I think public works did an outstanding job this year. Richmond, Vancouver, and Delta were all properly salted and cleared. Highways are all clear.

Nice to see us not get properly fucked for once. Ironically it's the snowiest

This did not age well. Public works what are you doing LOL

I was in a friend's 4runner last night. 91 was basically reduced to 1 lane, AF reduced to 2 lanes. We made our own lane lol.

AF was so bad you had cars driving slow in the middle of the road, people going around them too.. like ???

I read it and at first thought you mean the road leading up to horizons and thinking you need to have some initial d music blasting as you're doing that downhill mountain attack on a sled :lol

Vancouver public works has ONE good shovel/road clearing effort per year in them. They used it up a week ago!

Very impressed by snow removal here in my area (South Surrey). Main roads have been plowed like 10 times per day lol. They did the side roads last night. I've never seen this kind of efficiency before.

tegra7 12-31-2021 10:35 AM

Plenty of morons out there tailgating in this weather.

AzNightmare 01-02-2022 04:31 AM

It's snowing again!!

Traum 01-02-2022 04:28 PM

It's a giant watery mess out there... And with all that melting snow / slush and an ambient temperature hovering above and below 0°C for the entire upcoming week and more, the streets and the driving are not gonna be pretty... FailFish

I'd upload a few pics from the area but this super ghetto vBulletin 2.0 software is garbage

We finally had our streets plowed this morning, first time since I've lived here in 2 years. Friday's garbage though still not picked up.

not sure where you are, but Vancouver didn't pickup the green bin. Probably the worst time to not pickup the green bin when it's Christmas and everyone is generating lots of compost garbage.

My green bin is completely full and it's still 3 days until the next pick up.

Yeah, they didn't pickup our green bin as well but they announced that they weren't, the garbage was just missed.

Traum 01-03-2022 12:16 PM

For us, the cancelled green bin pick up is still something we can handle since it'll at least get picked up the following week. The missed garbage pick up, on the other hand, is gonna be disastrous. The next garbage pick up isn't until 2 weeks later (10 days from now), and you just know that is gonna be ugly for a lot of households, including mine.

The really sucky thing is -- my garbage was supposed to get picked up last Wed and there wasn't even that much snow accumulation, and CoV has already indicated that City staff were cancelling green bin pick up to focus on garbage collection. But even then, garbage pick up did not happen. CoV then emailed us to leave our garbage bins out for the following day if it didn't get picked up on Wed, and of course by Thur, that's when the super heavy snowfall has accumulated overnight.

Garbage collection and arterial snow removal are what I'd consider to be pretty basic and essential municipal gov services. And even then, CoV is dropping the ball on it. FailFish
