I got the baseline + 512 storage upgrade 15"
edit:

this pisses me off because the 256 supposedly does 2gb /sec
http://www.macrumors.com/2015/05/21/...ps-throughput/

edit:
Ran the speed test again it hit 1.8 gb/sec it might be due to something running in the system when first starting out

probably non-issue for majority of Mac users but soldered SSD is worth mentioning

i played around with the touch bar macs yesterday
I hate the keyboard..

My order was supposed to be originally delivered Nov 18 to the 24th. It's now Dec 2 to the 9th.

Apple is sending me a free Magic Mouse 2 because of it.

Hehe 11-18-2016 01:16 AM

^

If you are ordering the base models (without customization)... maybe go order again on Apple store and select to pick in store. All models available according to istocknow.

Razor Ramon HG 11-21-2016 12:18 AM

Bought the base MBP model w/o touch bar to use until my 15" comes in.

Adjusting to the keyboard a lot better than I expected. Maybe the angle that I was standing at in the Apple Store the first time I tried it out was impacting my typing. So far, it's pretty accurate.

Slightly worried the 15" is a little too big now. Oh well.

RickyTan3 11-21-2016 03:21 PM

I kind of want to swap to a 13" touch bar.

However the screen is incredible on the 15.

Having used the 13" non-TB one for a week and then migrating to the 15" TB one..

Touch bar sucks. I keep pressing the touch bar functions by accident. Wish they kept the old physical keys. No "innovation" is better than a half-assed function that slows down workflows.

Hehe 12-02-2016 09:43 AM

IMO the touchbar should be raised to the same level as the keyboard providing some sort of physical barrier to misclick it.

As of now, whenever you are trying to click on the number keys (especially 1), you run at risk of pressing the ESC.

RickyTan3 12-02-2016 10:51 AM

After a while I stopped misclicking. Mainly I would click volume ALOT.
BTW
My 15" has been getting some graphics glitch. Say a spreadsheet or just normal browsing I would get some architecture flickers everywhere.

Super annoying, googled and it says 15" have this problem. It could be a driver issue but have to contact apple

Koflach 12-02-2016 08:52 PM

At least you guys aren't getting viruses!

godwin 12-02-2016 09:41 PM

I find the Touch bar really useful especially with apps like 1Password.. It would be very interesting to see what else developers can dream off.

As for viruses, these days if I am away from home / office, I rely on endpoint security and VPNs. Make so much sense to offload all the virus / ad filtering to the router instead at the browser. Heck even companies like Sophos are giving away their anti virus for free because their revenue are from their appliances.

I think the graphics artifacts have to do with WebGL / software drivers and thankfully not hardware at this time. I would not be very happy if I have to go through the solder pad gong show again. Just in case, I used my Amex for purchase.

has anyone used Duet Display with the new 15 inch macbook pro (touchbar)? Been looking to see if its supported -- I've come to depend on it for work

Anyone tried gaming on the new 15 yet? Wondering if GTA V / BF1 will be playable

The Radeon Pro 960 gets around 6900 in 3DMark 11 in Windows.

That's roughly a 10% slower version of the GTX 965M, so use that as a reference point.

It's enough for my CS, DOTA, and Blizzard games.

BrRsn 12-07-2016 05:05 PM

^ Thanks that's basically what I'll be playing mostly -- CS and GTA V. I guess the $240 for the upgraded GPU is worth it then -- shows double performance on benchmarks after some googling

From the video above, if you scale it down to 1080p, it should be able to play GTA V pretty well.

If you plan on playing games, I think it's worth it since a Mac can last 3-4 years.

I don't think I've even played a single game of DOTA on mine yet though.. just Hearthstone :lawl:

10.12.2 fixed my artifacts problems.

Nabatron 12-16-2016 08:52 AM

^the dongle life! Im keeping my 13' 2013 ret mackbook bro for the sake of this stupid apple garbage they are doing right now. Their whole philosophy of getting rid of ports to pack more shit into their products is crazy...you still have to have a dongle to hook anything up now.

For example customer buys iphone7 wants to hook in up to his mackbook oh wait you cant without a dongle lol

Fixed.

I've been using just the Apple USB-C to USB-A adapters.

I have one for use at home and one for use when I'm out (usually for external hard drives).

Got a Logitech MX Anywhere 2 mouse that I use (bluetooth compatible).

Hehe 12-16-2016 09:27 PM

Anyone with 13" MBP wants to buy Applecare?

I got one off fleebay (one for 13 and another for 15) for both me and wife, but wife ended up wanting the 15" instead, so now I'm stuck with a Applecare for Macbook/MBP13.

Or if you have a 15" one and would like to trade (I'd add the difference of course) that'd be ideal.
