^Agreed. I prefer the "financial stability" because I grew up where my dad/mom worked day in and out to meet the basic survival needs of the family. Things were not easy for them, so I try my best to work hard where I am now. They never got the luxuries to "travel", so growing up we never had that kind of disposable income. Now, I choose to build wealth first. I guess that's not the "IN" thing these days with people, they just see it as, "what, you never been here or there, or done this and that". |
Counterpoint: I travel I shit ton (like at least 2 times a year) and I pay a mortgage, max out my RRSPs every year, and still have money leftover to put in a TFSA. I don't make a ton of money either. It's all about priorities. I drive a 16 year old car. Have a $0 phone which I upgrade every 3 years. My SO and I live below our means most days but still manage splurge every now and then. Travelling isn't as expensive as you think. Back when I was renting you could live in a cheap place like SE Asia for 3 months for less than you would spend in a week in Vancouver. Airfares can be cheap and accommodations can be found cheaply now easily online. Food and cost of living is pretty much the among the highest in the world here in BC. I meet people travelling all the time who are on gap years who rent out their primary home and earn money on the side or in other passive ways. It's do-able, you just need to think out of the box. So you're damn right I have a shit ton of "stories" to tell. It's called life experience. I just realized now that people who haven't experienced "it" aren't really interested or just feign interest because their lives are so blindingly boring. That's ok though, as mine is the same 83% of the time too. So I just keep my mouth shut now and talk about the weather instead. |
For whatever reason, I've never cared much for travel. Whatever it is that makes people so excited "to experience the world", I never saw it as something important. Not sure why. It seems like something that's normal that people are supposed to like and love to talk about. I guess overall, I'm just very content staying in my small bubble and have no desire to venture out. I've gone to many places and traveled around here and there, but it always felt more to check off a bucket list or I went because my friends wanted to go and I wanted to hang out with them. I've personally never had the initiative to say "Let's get out of here!" (I guess what I'm saying is, it's my friends I wanted to travel for, not the location or the sake of leaving town for some "freedom"). I think it's because I feel I can't accomplish things that I really want to do if I'm not at home. I have sports, hobbies (building projects, car modding), my computer which I use a lot to watch shows, movies, surf, game (can't do that efficiently on a phone), etc. I even miss my car when I have to rent some POS in another city... lol. |
Travelling is just a hobby really - nothing more. Just like modifying your car, paragliding, or attending masked orgies. It's just materialistic consumption though a bit more involved and might cost more to satiate. People that make it out to be a lifestyle or some kind of a "life-hack" are usually in their early 20s that have #wanderlust in their Instagram posts or are full of shit. |
Man, that fat fuck keeps on getting worse at work. The guy clips his fuckin' nails at work. Fuckin gross. |
My only worry with traveling is coming back home to realize what a decrepit existence my home life is :fullofwin: EDIT: What grinds my gears are people who want to hang out but never follow up with a date or what to do etc. Like fuck off. You pitch it, follow up on it. Or if I pitched it and you say yes, fucking respond to my messages about dates / what to do etc. |

He was rude to people on the phone. Although the dress code is casual in my government office, he dressed a bit too casual in trackpants, shorts, and soccer shirts. He slurped his lunch. No table manners whatsoever. Thank goodness that turd works in another office now. :fullofwin: |
The shitty part of my job is seeing what everyone compensation is and when they get bonus and salary increases. I have been singled out, no increase for 3 yrs and bonus for last year. Everyone got it. Would you guys quit your job in this situation? |
Quote:
I would be curious why I didn't get the bonus, was it because of my performance or something wrong with the system? If I believe I am worth a certain price, I should be paid at that level. I see that everyone else got an increase or some type of bonus, but I haven't received one in the last 3 years? I think that's how I would do it. |
I talked to the manager today and asked if my performance was poor considering I've always had great performance every year before that. Told me indirectly that my job volume doesn't equal 40 hours of work and that essentially I am currently overpaid. The company revenue has declined 30%. I would totally understand they don't pay me a bonus, but they are increasing other people's salaries and paying everyone else out bonuses. Makes no sense, obviously I couldn't say that because I am not allowed to disclose confidential information that I see. Essentially I am like one of three staff that didn't receive a bonus, the other two were on maternity leave, this is out of a 150 staff total. Told me also, people don't get bonuses just for showing up to work, you have to be outstanding such as helping others and going above and beyond your job to make the company better. I then said, I always go above and look out for opportunities to save the company tons of money the past year. Tells me, well that's part of my job...not even in my fucking job description to go find ways to save company money. Every fucking person on the team writing off all expenses, and I am here trying to find ways to save. Then she got the guts to say in the midst of troubling times of weaker business, the boss didn't even pay himself a bonus. Seriously? The boss already getting millions and you are comparing me and my low salary to him... This really shows the unappreciative attitude of the organization. It's a life learning lesson that it sucks to work for someone, always be someone's bitch. Even if you work hard and do everything right. Clearly the manager only pays out bonus to people she likes and if she doesn't like you, don't get shit. Bias towards specific people she likes. |

Well the weekend is here, I hope y'all reading this stuff have a good weekend and have a happy holiday. |
^Yeah, quite bit of team turnover the past two years under her management. Just in a span of 6 months, two of the more experienced level staffs left. Even the VP's themselves recognized me with recognition for my great work this past year, so I don't know what the fuck is her problem how I got $0. If anything I would get much less $ bonus due to less volume of work. I feel everything I do now is, "it's part of my job", and nothing seems to be above and beyond at this point. What's done is done, there is always a positive and negative to take out of every situation, not going to let this ruin my Christmas. To her, I'm only worth this much, to others I may not be, it's a matter of time before I get a new job/start a different career path!! At the moment, just have to suck it up because I have financial obligations to fulfill, so I can't just "quit" for ego purposes, even though inside I want to fuck them over and leave. |
Lately, been having a hard time deciding where to get dinner. |
When your landlord still has a bunch of useless shit in the garage. At least he removed enough so I can put my 8 in the garage(just barely, probably need a little help so I don't scrape it again) when I go on a vacation soon. When I come back, I will talk to him and the other people in the house. If no one claims certain things, on the Craigslist/to the garbage dump they go. |

Manager explained to me once. 1) To get a bonus: has to be above and beyond ur job description AND something you haven't DONE the year before which is measurable and sustainable. Other wise, it's just 1 time thing & something you already know from yr before. Every since my boss has explained to me, I felt ok to get only a 4 out of 5 and not getting a bonus. Individual has to be earned and it's slightly different per person. |

I ain't going to go tell my VP because if my VP gives manager a hard time over her decision, manager gonna give me shit, so not worth it. |
Had an emergency episode tonight - something aggravated my condition after my shower. No antihistamines anywhere in my house; had to chug down 2 heavy doses of Nyquil and 4 gravols. Luckily the Nyquil has antihistamine mixed into it. Averted severe anxiety attack just when I was starting to panic. I hate taking meds now but natural healing is so slow going and sometimes tortuous like tonight. Just remembered this time last year I was on a high dose oral steroid with a small red allergy pill I took every 4 hours that made me incredibly weak and shakey. I probably have to get more of that red allergy pill for emergencies like tonight, it's just tough for me mentally to have something like that in my space now. Sigh. |
People who try to steal your parking spot inside a mall parkade or outdoor lot despite the fact that you have your turn signals on and have been waiting for over 5 minutes for the driver to drive out of the spot. Sometimes honking the horn is not enough to let the loser know to get lost. |

There was a lady that had her fours way like 2 car lengths ahead and not facing the parking spot. I proceeded to park in the spot and the lady came over and pointed out that I stole her spot. You had your four ways on!!! How the F should I know that you are waiting for a spot. GRRRRRRR in the end the spot was still mine. People these days I tell you. :moderatorban: |
^I don't know about you guys, if I tried jacked someone' spot, I wouldn't even want to be parking there anymore LOL. Who knows what the other person would do to my car. |
^ I was thinking the same thing unless you drive a beater car that you don't care about lol |

It's crazy out there, some people can take it way too personal that I've seen people literally bitch and fight at a parking lot, over a parking spot... |
Piss me off assholes that drive in the rain/dark without vehicle lights on. To make things even more more annoying, hogging the left lane going under speed limit... |
Semis that force you off the road when there's only 1 usuable lane - centre Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk |
