Tip on the subtotal. I don't like how all the places in dt have minimum option of 15%. Are you supposed to tip at the club/bar?

MSREE 01-22-2018 08:56 AM

^ technically youre supposed to tip on the subtotal. I tip on the whole total incl tax because i always tip a bit extra since i was a waitress and i know there are plenty of assholes who dont tip at all regardless of service.
I do 10% for crappy/meh service/cabs. 15% for average service. 20% for great service.

In the industry, courtesy is 15% is what youre supposed to tip now with just food since kitchen gets a small cut, 20% tip if you order alcohol & food b/c most servers will split with the bartender & kitchen on that bill.

If i'm at a club or bar, i tip the bartender a buck or two per drink. If the place is busy, i'll put a $10 or a $20 in their tip jar right in front of them after i order my first drink while making eye contact with them.......
After that, they ALWAYS make sure to serve me immediately and not ignore me because they know i'll tip and im not an asshole. I usually always get free drinks too when im out because of the way i tip.

CivicBlues 01-22-2018 09:26 AM

always tip on subtotal. If you are ordering drinks too you get dinged 10% alcohol tax in addition to the 5% gst.

Just triple the 5% GST to get your 15% that you need

Hondaracer 01-22-2018 11:49 AM

There is a whole group of people who think the proper way to tip at a bar is at the END of the night as opposed to your first drink lol

Jmac 01-22-2018 12:42 PM

I usually tip on the final total, 10% rounded up to the nearest dollar (so $31 final bill would be a $4 tip).

Double for great service, half for substandard service, 0 for terrible service.

There's nothing wrong with that. I worked in the industry for years lol.

I do it because it ensures the level of service I want when I'm drinking. I put myself on the radar because I know how busy things can get. It's an especially great tactic for the club. I stick with one bartender during the night, tip heavy in the beginning and I don't need to yell my order repeatedly or push my way to the bar and get a bartenders attention. I've had bartenders remember me after months, and I get treated very well when I go out because of it lol.

People's inability to separate personal emotion and personal attacks from the job, and further in a reflection/discussion.

Really makes me miss my trip to California.

The nice sunny beaches, rather warm weather, and most importantly, dry ground and not having to worry about wheelspins.

coneZONE 01-25-2018 05:43 PM

i absolutely despise people who try to go behind my back and talk shit about me, and complain to the manager, even when I've done nothing wrong and it's just something he doesn't like about me apparently.
Lol whatever. He's in no position to complain anyway. He's a crybaby who wants to get handed the gravy jobs. Everyone knows, so I'll expose him to his face if he tries to play games again.

MSREE 01-27-2018 01:13 AM

Don't ever touch Cashew again big head bastard!!!

People who don't use turn lanes, or do all of their braking before pulling into the turn lane. Don't stop in the middle of the road blocking traffic right next to the turn lane you morons.

When you realize your drinking abilities is no where near what it used to be before. Feel like a complete noob/lightweight. Had a bottle of soju (360ml) last night with my dinner, instantly passed out after dinner, light headed and went to bed at 8pm LOL.

Sign of old age? Could also be body not used to alcohol since I rarely drink now. Whatever it is, ain't touching alcohol again for awhile.

Yea, you're doing it the right way, i think i worded my post poorly or you misunderstood.

Some people think that they wont tip a thing until the very end of the night to "reward" the service they received, which equates to shit service because the bartender thinks your a cheapskate, no one is anticiptating a pay off at the end of the night as opposed to tipping big right off the bat lol

Gh0st 02-02-2018 12:21 PM

Tip --

Anything under 20 dollars at 20%

20 dollars and over at 18%

shitty service tip at 10%

tip at the club? Each round ordered.

tip at the bar? when the bill comes out its 18-20% tip.

calculated on final total amount.

never worked at a bar or restaurant. just doing what feels right.

When people think they are sneaky and park at your work place only to go to the gym down the street. He has been doing it for 3 weeks; 2-3 times a week. Caught him yesterday walking out the parkade and he just put his head down and walk faster away. Ended up placing a note on his car telling him to quit this shit.

People who don't know that a double left turn lane means stay in your fucking lane through the whole turn...I refuse to be next to anyone who's driving on the inside lane because I've had so many people swing wide into the outer lane almost sideswiping me.

BIC_BAWS 02-09-2018 12:43 PM

hey let me ask you guys something, if someone asks you to back up the work you've done, would you only upload the files you've worked on today, or out of ease, would you upload the larger directory of folders?

This employee (friend situation a couple pages back) of mine had overwritten everything. Seriously, who's fucking stupid enough to do that. Pretty sure he's just playing games at this point. Too bad you can't fire someone for playing games.

I've had too many people cut the corner during their turn and almost hit me. We can't win.
