I saw one of these on the road for the first time. The styling isn't earth-shattering, but I think it will age very well over time. |
Dropped by Open Road Scion Port Moody this afternoon to take a look, there were a bunch of people waiting for a test drive so didn't want to bother with the wait, but got a good look at the car. It looks amazing in person in the pearl white color, makes me want one even more. |
Test drove one, and mine is available for pick up next tuesday. I test drove the automatic transmission and it still gets some good pick up. Didn't like the automatic. I haven't driven an automatic car in ages so I honestly don't know the answer to this question, but is there supposed to be a thud from the transmission when the car downshift back to first and comes to a complete stop? Not that it affects me since I bought the 6spd manual transmission but for potential buyers of the automatic version. |

Why would people even buy an automatic version of this car? Should have been all manual or a dsg a least. |
^ Does flappy paddle gearbox count :troll:? IIRC, the auto is derived from either the IS-F or LFA, I don't remember which. |

:okay: I test drove the white one at OpenRoad Port Moody. The automatic transmission really ruins the car, IMO. D mode was terrible. |

my celica is auto (had it for 12 years) and compared to the auto frs, in terms of performance, I'd take the FRS. Now Why would one want an auto? everyone one has their reasons. The paddle shift on the frs is quick and responsive between gears. I was impressed. It succeeded where my e-shift Celica fell short. But there are other factors to consider like practicality. the frs has virtually has no trunk space and leg room for back seats. My celica can fit a canopy, chairs, tables, etc all in one go; ask any rs mod for an eyewitness account ;) and my celica can fit two passengers in the back (if ever u need to give friends an unexpected lift home). but definitely I would imagine the manual transmission frs would be wayyyyyyy more fun to drive, just like a manual celica. |
Any of you guys got the upgraded audio? |
fr-s automatic very responsive..but mid-top end the power drops off, couldn't really test the handling, car didn't seem outrageously light, yeah backseat area almost no room, trunk space is alright/doable, very deep but height?wise is small. interior is ok, cheap toyota plastic. |

Regularly used for Ikea moving duties when other cars fell short. Until the Cube came along. :fullofwin: |
the auto is the same as the IS-F, albeit with 6 speed instead of 8. Its plenty good enough but it dosn't work as well as in the IS-F for whatever reason. I still prefer a real DCT like the one in my M3. Its still a very fun car with either tranny because, all i find myself doing is throw/fling the car into corner at every possible occasion... everything else just dosnt really matter :fullofwin: |
My celica was SO spacious when the back seats were folded down. More trunk space than my wife's big camry. http://oi50.tinypic.com/24vku4p.jpg Also there's prius tires on the FR-s, no? I heard that this was done on purpose.. so you can.. well you know  |
yeah the trunk in the celi is excellent does the frs/brz seats fold down? |
I'm having a real hard time trying to decide between a decent AP2 S2K and a Scion FR-S |
Buy both, LOL |
