Honeycomb seems to still be in its infancy..It will probably make great advances in the coming releases.. |
I can see the potential in this thing, but this isn't refined like an iPad or iPhone is I'm not sure if i should refund this things or just wait till the issues are resolved? Any forums you would recommend for Android OS users? or Transformer users? |
The trackpad on the keyboard dock stopped working I had to disconnect the screen from the dockand reconnect... sigh |

Quick update. I was able to tether the iPhone 4 by using Bluetooth tethering. ASus website site shows a firmware update beginning of may. Maybe I have to update Will do it tomorrow after a visit to memory express. I wanna pick some of those guys' brains cuz they seemed more knowledgeable about android shit than I do Still quite disappointed at the laggyness of the tablet and the fact that multiple programs have crashed multiple times. Also the keyboard doc keeps 'losing connection' with the screen (ie// keyboard all of a sudden stops working, wifi turns off randomly etc) Posted via RS Mobile |
lagging was the first thing that i saw when i was playing with the xoom vs the ipad...i think its the way it was designed....whenever you swipe to different pane i notice that there is a 'box' / 'page' that turns/changes...thus the lagginess i guess... i lucked out and got a 16g white ipad in london drugs a few days ago for our family...and i'm impressed with it... |

However, you have a piece of hardware which means you can return it. The iPad is one year old. Competitors sat on their asses for most of that time and are now trying to rush products to market that aren't really ready for prime time (Xoom, Playbook, Transformer). What the hell have they been doing this last year? Do you really want to pay money to be a beta tester for their product? Posted via RS Mobile |
Here guys. I made a post on an android forum of the problems I'm currently facing as I use this thing more: http://androidforums.com/asus-tablet...g-resolve.html |
3 in stock for 32GB on Staples.ca :) |
android 3.0 is bound to be buggy, and for me that isnt much of a dealbreaker when you look at the value of this thing. Granted the annoyances you are facing would be enough for anyone to return the unit, for me i love being able to face issues and have them solved/fixed through my blood, sweat and tears (well actually lots of energy drinks and late nights LOL) the potential of this unrefined(software wise) machine is so high(even without tegra3) that it gives me wet dreams. (im so horny to try out ubuntu on it) Once honeycomb is in full developement swing and the apps come rolling in and google sends out the upcoming updates i'm sure that this tablet will shine. In any case its up to you what you decide to do with your machine but on the offchance you do go back to ME and return it LMK so i can get the open box deal :P enjoy it while you have it. :) |

These companies are going to shoot themselves in the foot if they take an "enthusiast" point of view and apply it to a product they want to sell to the masses. |
you speak the truth, i'd love to be able to take one apart without voiding the warranty, they should make barebones tablets LOL |
I don't mind trouble shooting a little bit, but this just seems like amateur hour type shyt... like a couple doods with beers threw together a custom pc and it half works, and then u gotta go thru the internet finding patch fixes lol I can see the potential. im going to try to stick it out and wait for the upcoming updates |
Where the hell are you all getting yours? I've (well my gf) has been on a waiting list for me since apr 30th on amazon.ca... still no signs of stock or a ship date. |
http://gizmodo.com/5784427/samsung-g...+inch-size-now Samsung has a new Galaxy Tab in both 10.1" and 8.9" versions coming out in June. Hopefully it's a much more refined version of the Honeycomb 3.0. |
^ Samsung had a tablet ready, but did a quick refresh when the iPad 2 came out (rumor is to make it more competitive). The new one is much sleeker than the original. When the late-comers ship their tablets with 3.1, what are current owners going to think? How many people are going to equate the Samsung's better performance to the company/tablet as opposed to the OS? The tablets that arrive late might actually do better than the ones rushed to market since those customers won't have any of the issues the first tablets did. It's not always best to be the first to market. :) |
This samsung tab looks sweet! Posted via RS Mobile |
been reading alot of forums that state that when 3.1 rollsout it will fix most (if not all) of the issues plaguing 3.0 (adobe also posted about this as well apparently re:youtube HD). basically 3.0 = 3.1 RC LOL tab2 is pretty sweet as well and it may not be the best to be first in market....but it sure as hell feels really good :P |

I got mine at memoryexpress. Took less than 10 days from the time i put a deposit down. |
The Samsung 8.9 inch is like almost exactly what I'm shooting for. I think I'll wait till June and see what it looks like. |
The current Honeycomb tablets should get 3.1 update as soon as it's released in a few weeks. I don't think there's any manufacturer customizations that would cause delays so current customers should be fine. |

As I use the Transformer everyday, it does get a bit better. I'm getting used to the quarks and to be honest it does have some sweet functions. Im really enjoying the MyCloud and remote desktop. As long as this thing gets frequent updates i think it's a good buy. |
