its way easier to sue someone then try criminally charge them...as the business would not see any money if they are tried as a criminal |

i guess "rioting" is a way to classify the vandalism to exclude it from the policy. |
The LD manager that was on last week said they were negotiating with their insurance company, saying that the thefts they saw were not directly attached to the riots and should be covered... or something along those lines. In any case, they were hopeful that at least some of their losses would be covered. What would be really amazing would be for some of the big companies, who have the resources to weather the hardships, to step up financially in aid of the little guys. And again, this would be a good opportunity for the "sorry" rioters to really make good and show they can do something besides just cry on camera. |
I wonder can all these shop owners get together and sue the rioters for money. |
Fucking insurance companies.. BTW, if your car didn't have comprehensive, same story with your car. You'd basically be SOL. Fuck these rioters. Mob mentality my ass. Destruction and theft is a choice, not a fucking reflex. |

The unfortunate thing about all this is the smaller shops can't afford to take the rioters to court and even if they did, they wouldn't be able to recoup the losses very easily. Apparently a couple of lawyers are working something out to get paid only if they win in court and put together a class action civil suit with a whole lot of smaller stores combined. |
1 Attachment(s) Not sure if Trolling... Speaking of trolls Facebook Riot pics page has been fully converted into a bridge. :troll: |
Not to anger BlueG2 with my self-serving story ... ... but just got word that the damage to my GTI has risen to a final estimate of $13,082.53. And no, it's not a write-off. Going to lose a lot of money selling the car now. I was feeling bad for that Camille girl when she got outed so badly. But knowing that someone of her kin decided to ravage my car makes me wish any rioter is held financially liabel for their actions. I made a responsible decision that night to leave downtown when trouble was brewing and leave my car parked overnight because I had been drinking. Yet, in the end I'm the one that will be be out of pocket thousands of dollars because of someone else's participation in "mob-mentality". I can't describe how angry I am right now. Kev |

Apparently the stores are covered in a majority of cases for the losses steeming from looting and b&e, unless they have opted for a shitty policy. The plate glass is not covered. Plate glass is covered in a separate policy that excludes riots, terrorism and such. Large windows would add up fast. |

gee, cars getting smashed, flipped and/or torched must be a common occurrence in downtown. you're right, the riot had nothing to do with it at all. |
