These motherfucking rioters seriously deserve a beatdown to go along with their public shaming.

thats why i think its great that BLENZ is suing people....I heard London Drugs was doing the same

its way easier to sue someone then try criminally charge them...as the business would not see any money if they are tried as a criminal

You'd think their insurance covers "Vandalism".

unit 06-28-2011 10:25 AM

i guess "rioting" is a way to classify the vandalism to exclude it from the policy.

Soundy 06-28-2011 10:37 AM

The LD manager that was on last week said they were negotiating with their insurance company, saying that the thefts they saw were not directly attached to the riots and should be covered... or something along those lines. In any case, they were hopeful that at least some of their losses would be covered.

What would be really amazing would be for some of the big companies, who have the resources to weather the hardships, to step up financially in aid of the little guys.

And again, this would be a good opportunity for the "sorry" rioters to really make good and show they can do something besides just cry on camera.

Mr.HappySilp 06-28-2011 11:02 AM

I wonder can all these shop owners get together and sue the rioters for money.

LiquidTurbo 06-28-2011 11:11 AM

Fucking insurance companies.. BTW, if your car didn't have comprehensive, same story with your car. You'd basically be SOL.

Fuck these rioters.

Mob mentality my ass. Destruction and theft is a choice, not a fucking reflex.

the flipped EF i posted awhile back on this thread didn't have comprehensive.

Ronin 06-28-2011 12:49 PM

The unfortunate thing about all this is the smaller shops can't afford to take the rioters to court and even if they did, they wouldn't be able to recoup the losses very easily. Apparently a couple of lawyers are working something out to get paid only if they win in court and put together a class action civil suit with a whole lot of smaller stores combined.

Not to anger BlueG2 with my self-serving story ...

... but just got word that the damage to my GTI has risen to a final estimate of $13,082.53. And no, it's not a write-off. Going to lose a lot of money selling the car now.

I was feeling bad for that Camille girl when she got outed so badly. But knowing that someone of her kin decided to ravage my car makes me wish any rioter is held financially liabel for their actions. I made a responsible decision that night to leave downtown when trouble was brewing and leave my car parked overnight because I had been drinking.

Yet, in the end I'm the one that will be be out of pocket thousands of dollars because of someone else's participation in "mob-mentality".

I can't describe how angry I am right now.

Ouch... how much were you originally gonna sell it for?

Gridlock 06-28-2011 05:52 PM

Apparently the stores are covered in a majority of cases for the losses steeming from looting and b&e, unless they have opted for a shitty policy.

The plate glass is not covered. Plate glass is covered in a separate policy that excludes riots, terrorism and such.

Large windows would add up fast.

Man that really does suck. You have every right to be angry.

Bad things happen to good people, unfortunately.

Take it easy man, all the best.

Insurance companies are not in the business of compensating you when something goes wrong; they are in the business of selling you false hopes and finding ways to not pay you when something bad does indeed happen.

It sucks that it happened but that person needs to take some responsibility knowing that he doesn't have comprehensive, knowing that a riot might break out that night, anyone without comp shouldn't have had their vehicle around that area.

I don't understand how anyone in their right mind would drive down to DT that day.

And then when their car gets smashed, they blame the riot.

Qmx323 06-29-2011 12:01 PM

Dude ^ read.

He parked in RICHMOND by the RiverRock Casino

Spoiler!

spoon.ek9 06-29-2011 12:13 PM

gee, cars getting smashed, flipped and/or torched must be a common occurrence in downtown. you're right, the riot had nothing to do with it at all.

Can you explain more on this? I was under the impression that ICBC does not compensate for lost value.
