to all the people who say that hockey had nothing to do with it is stupid. In the end this never would of happened if we never made it this close to the stanley cup.

It was because of this event we had this many retards all in the same area at the same time.

My brother was trapped downtown after the riots broke out tonight and only recently arrived home, despite his difficult evening he took the time to post this on his facebook; I felt very proud to call him my brother after reading it, so I'm reposting it here.

Don't be ashamed of Vancouver, that's just adding insult to injury. Vancouver isn't responsible for this, its a select few, whom are present in any city, which started these riots. With a few idiots thrown in taking facebook pictures, for good measure. If you want to feel something, feel proud to be part of a city with strangers helping carry the injured to the skytrain, of the people braving pepper spray to document what's happening and bring those truly responsible to justice, people who helped escort young families away from the dangerous areas, or those who helped protect businesses from looters when police couldn't. Even if you weren't there to see all that, check all the facebook events dedicated to helping victims and cleaning up up the city that now have 10,000+ people. Or, you could just post how you're ashamed of your city, and insult all those who risked their personal safety and now sacrifice their time to help repair the damage done by others. Who deserves you thoughts and your comments more? Vancouver, you've made, at least me, proud.

Again, I'm putting everything together and sending it to VPD tomorrow morning.

I need a break...been working on this for almost 2.5 hours and I spent 4 trying not to get my ass kicked downtown.

It could've been this event, a G8/G20, a soccer match, a protest, etc etc, and these clowns would STILL come out regardless of the nature of the event itself.

How many cities have had their teams won championships in the past 10 years and how many of those cities had riots? You can count them.

This is now the 2nd riot I've experienced in person within the last year (G20 in Toronto, I was there) and these troublemakers were there for ONE purpose only - to destroy properties and cause problems because they have absolutely no moral values and are the shit stains of civilized societies. The world is a better place without them.

Also, the giant outdoor screen has been at the same spot 3 other times just this past week, and NOTHING happened. These morons waited until game 7 so that they could come down here and act like a bunch of inbreds and blame it all on a sporting event.

Oh yeah, so we just shouldn't even play then...or we should lose on purpose early because people will riot if we lose later. It has nothing to do with hockey. Were you THERE? I was. If you look at my pictures, I'm standing in it. I can't tell you how many times I heard FIRST HAND that people didn't care about the Canucks, they just wanted to burn and break things.

Does retardation just fall out of your mouth or do you have to actually make an effort to do so?

By your logic you might as well say that if we never even had a hockey team, this wouldn't have had happened in our city. As a public gathering would be non existent. Hell you might as well blame ALL fans for buying tickets, since they support the team. HELL YOU MIGHT AS WELL BLAME THE CREATION OF HOCKEY as a sport.

You could've just said that there are retards in the vicinity as all populations have a few rowdy ass people, and blame them. And if they didn't exist, there probably would not be a riot.

are you trying to imply that "hockey fans" are retarded? because majority of the people who went to watch the game are genuine fans that applauded the Boston Bruins respectfully, and went home soon after.

either way, you're the true idiot here.

Harvey Specter 06-16-2011 02:29 AM

BT (breakfast television) is showing live footage from DT and they've basically cleaned up the area around the Bay and London Drugs, all the windows have been boarded up and streets look clean.

bcrdukes 06-16-2011 02:36 AM

So this guy isn't as innocent as some of us first thought:

It really doesn't matter whether they're Canucks fans or not

I read the following and have to share:

"The biggest disgrace is the city won't admit it wasn't just a small number of hooligans. Hundreds of fans participated in the looting and violence.

Hundreds of fans would not leave when read the riot act. These are the people of Vancouver. This was not a conspiracy of anarchists and terrorists as the mayor would want you to believe."

With 100,000 people gathering within a few blocks, even if 1% start causing problems, we have a handful.

It's not hockey fans or Vancourites who should be embarrassed, it's the city with its incompetent mayor.

First the bike lanes and now this, this could have been far better managed as we should have learned from 1994.

ae101 06-16-2011 03:02 AM

no sure but the description could sound like anyone since there were a lot of ppl with hockey sticks

but dude jumping over flaming bimmer is really dumbass

!e.lo_ 06-16-2011 03:04 AM

i saw a vid my friend posted on facebook, this fellow was right by the burning car and acting really rowdy/awfully happy with his buddy. not doubting he set it on fire.

SkinnyPupp 06-16-2011 03:05 AM

I wouldn't take the photo byline as word that he's the one who did it...

Yea, I still find it hard to believe. If there were pictures before or from others in the area then I may believe it..but either way, his information was all available on his facebook, so innocent or not, he's gonna get harassed. :failed:

blagh 06-16-2011 03:09 AM

lol at all the people putting words in my mouth. I never said hockey was the only reason this riot happened. Alot of these people already had plans of going buckwild before going to the game.

It was because of the game that all these idiots were DT tonight and you must be hella dumb to think that the game had nothing to do with this incident.
