Sorry to hear, dude. That's so fucked. Especially cause you have to lose time to get it fixed and take a hit on resale. Sorry again.

Kudos to him, but he's extremely lucky those guys didn't start smashing his face in with their skateboards.

A summary of the damage:

- Windshield smashed
- Both side windows smashed
- Rear hatch glass smashed
- Rear hatch dented
- Front passenger side bumper damage
- Rear bumper damage
- Driver's side mirror pulled backwards
- Slurpee all over my hood
- Dents on my roof and my sunroof caved in from someone standing on the car.

Trying to sell the car right now too. A huge dec is going to kill my resale value. I'm probably out $2-3k in resale if not more.

I was downtown too at Ap Gu Jung on Robson. Once we saw the car was on fire we left and got back to Richmond. Watched all the craziness on TV with a pit in my stomach wondering what is wrong with people.

Then I wake up to discover my car like this. I'm just lost for words as to how a city can behave like this. :(

Kev

Where did you leave your car exactly? I left my car just outside Costco and walked over the Skytrain. I did get back just an hour after the game and the cars along the street were fine. Sorry for what happened.

That's exactly the response a lot of these guys were hoping for, though. They go with the attitude of hating cops and set out to do anything they can to entice them. The cops took the proverbial high road in not falling for it. As it is, only property was destroyed, and property can be repaired. Busting heads would only have served to escalate things.

holy fuck 32 pages already!

that is all I have to say to this bullshit (the riot not the thread)

Roach 06-16-2011 09:44 AM

jmvdesign: That is the Richmond River Rock Casino station of the Canada Line.

There is a multi-level parking structure which was full. Next to it is a large dirt lot as well. That's where my car was.

wingies 06-16-2011 09:56 AM

whos got the real story behind the guy and the girl kissing?

bing 06-16-2011 09:59 AM

i hope they identify all these people, charge them, and punish these losers through lawyer fees, criminal record, and fines to pay for the damage. Make them pay or don't sell them insurance, similar to traffic tickets.

there was a picture of her injured in another page in this thread in a higher angle. They weren't kissing at first. A group of people were helping her too... it looked bad..

gdoh 06-16-2011 10:00 AM

the obviously dont realize how stupid they look

fliptuner 06-16-2011 10:00 AM

I wonder how many businesses are going to close early and board off their windows for the fireworks.

I hope the event goes through as planned, people searched getting off the Skytrain and buses, pedestrian check-points when entering the DT core, liquor stores closed all day and a heavy police presence. Basically, I hope the city shows that it can hold a big event (again) and not have any of these incidents.

BTW listening to the police news conference and the chief is saying no fatalities and there are many witnesses saying the guy who fell from the viaduct jumped across in an attempt to take a shortcut.

Matlock 06-16-2011 10:02 AM

We watched the game at an office downtown and stayed until 10 to try avoiding any mobs. When we were leaving one of my friends who is a nurse was still deciding if he should go to st Pauls to work since they were all being called in.

We were concerned for his safety and asked him if he was sure that it was a good idea

He went to work

Amazing guy
