Something has been bugging me at the thought of trading luongo... I personally would not do the trade especially to toronto...I would look at brodeur and how he stuck to one team four a long time and for that time it wasnt all great but he stuck in there....I know he has rings and all that but the point is that he stuck to one location for a long time... I say try the two combo goalie for another year and decide to change it up after that...

BTW, luongo is toronto's only chance of getting to the playoffs next year and I wanna see them suffer some more

Salo said in the skills contest he will be retiring. Informal notice though.

Sucks. Salo is a heck of a teammate and a damned awesome veteran to have in the room. He's quiet and goes about his business but they respect the hell out of that guy and his perseverance.

People get the Masterson all the time for overcoming injury to continue their playing careers. Salo should get one for his career filled with...well...being Sami Salo.

I would be surprised if Luongo is a leaf. Luongo will get booed so badly everytime he plays Montreal. Burke likes character guys. He's not going to give up Schenn or Gardiner as specified below. If there's one thing Burke does, it is to make surprising trades/signings. He also tends to make moves that benefit the long-term (minus perhaps his stint in Anaheim). Schenn has potential (to be a shutdown d-man) and truculence while Gardiner will replace Liles in 4 years. I do not see this trade happening because Burke would be mortgaging the leafs' future.
