It IS BS. Siri was introduced on a 3GS before apple bought them out.

Siri will take much more processing power and will also need the increased network speeds.

gilly 10-04-2011 12:50 PM

well i think I am gonna get it. Even though I was expecting an iphone 5 with a new redesign, my 3gs is starting to glitch up. Good and neat improvements tho. At least they are offering it in white right away.

LiquidTurbo 10-04-2011 01:05 PM

Oh if you have a 3GS it's a great upgrade. It's laughable if you have 4

jerche 10-04-2011 01:59 PM

Apple's new iPhone 4S is the next iteration of the iPhone 4. Its body and screen are identical to that of the iPhone 4, but the new device does feature a slew of upgraded internal features that are sure to get tech junkies excited. Here's a quick breakdown of the iPhone 4S' specs and its new features:

* Release Date: October 14
* Retina Display: Same as the iPhone 4's. You'll no longer need to separate between GSM and CDMA models.
* CPU: A5 Chip Clocked at 1 GHz. This chip supports dual-core graphics and will be able to load graphics seven times faster than the iPhone 4.
* 8 MegaPixel Camera: The camera will be able to take 3364 x 2248 pictures, a 60% pixel boost over the iPhone 4. The 4S also comes with a backside illuminated sensor to allow 73% more light than the iPhone 4. The camera will also take pictures 33% faster than the iPhone4 due to increased shutter speed.
* Video Recording: The iPhone 4S can record videos up to 1080p resolution
* Faster Downloads: The 4S can download at 14.4MBs per second vs. the iPhone 4's 7.2MBs per second
* Intelligent Assistant: Siri, Apple's new virtual "intelligent assistant," uses voice commands to answer questions you ask or perform tasks. For example, you can ask Siri about the weather, have it dictate messages, ask it for directions, have it set reminders, bring up maps, or even talk about the weather. Siri can also send e-mails and text messages.

Read on to learn more about the iPhone 4S, including its battery usage and its availability and pricing.

Battery Usage:

* 3G Talk Time -- 8 Hours
* 2G Talk Time -- 14 Hours
* 3G Browsing -- 6 Hours
* Wi-Fi Browsing -- 9 Hours
* Video Playback -- 10 Hours
* Music Playback -- 40 Hours

Availability and Pricing:

* Pre-Order Date: Friday, October 7th.
* Available on AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint.
* 16GB iPhone 4S: $199
* 32GB iPhone 4S: $299
* 64GB iPhone 4S: $399
* Black/White iPhone 4S available

And there you have it! I'm an Android user, so I doubt I'll be trading in for the iPhone 4S but some of its features are rather incredible, especially the camera and of course Siri. If you want to know even more about the 4S be sure to check out the official iPhone 4S website.

since i am up for a hardware upgrade from rogers, i guess i'll wait and see how the new OS / programs work on the ip4, and if they are fine, i'll buy an ip4 outright off CL and save my rogers hardware upgrade for the ip5.

if the ip4 lags or can't run the new OS/cloud/programs flawlessly then i'll bite the bullet and use the hardware upgrade on the ip4s.

HonestTea 10-04-2011 02:45 PM

I'll probably keep my ip4..at least for now lol

apple pretty much just played catchup with the 4S in a lot of ways..

Ya this was my major disappointment. I see m friends galaxy s 2 and I'm so jealous at the screen size. It's a lot lighter too.

But to be honest the upgrades are pretty impressive. The funny thing is that if they released the 4S with these EXACT same specs but just a different exterior look, everyone would be going nuts with joy right now.

Is the exterior design really that big a deal?

Also, as an iPhone 4 user, I feel better about my investment :)

And iOS5 will run perfectly fine on the iPhone 4

SiRV 10-04-2011 03:03 PM

Siri could be pretty cool... Imagine a nice bachelor pad/condo with an iPad somewhere (assuming iPad has siri support), it could be like living in a star trek world talking with your computer verbally...

How else are the babes going to know you're rocking the latest piece of mobile technology? :fuckthatshit:

Too bad it's not a '5' with a new design/larger screen. Seems like a let down after all the hype. Looks like this announcement was more about software than hardware.

Now waiting to see which developers are first-out-of-the-gate to integrate iCoud into their Apps and what uses they're going to come up with.

The specs are finally getting inline with the Androids, and I can see how the iPhone5 will be the real game changer. I would definately upgrade to this phone if I had a 3G or 3GS. I currently use the regular 4 and find the speed sufficient since I don't game on it anymore. I will most likely hold out till the 5.

Overlook the specs. Apple needs to keep up
the chunk of the features are within iOS5
