Anyone know of a good call blocker app that hangs up the call right away... the ones I tried as well as the built in one in Lollipop just sends the calls to VM..
These are the ones I tried and didnt like
Mr Number
Call Blacklist
Trucaller
Root Call Blocker (this one also blocks my sim card.. lmao)

Im looking for one that would tell the caller that the number they dialled is not in service and not sent to my VM

Thanks

That's because all the apps do is send the busy/no answer/not reachable tones to forward the call to VM. It's just using the cellular service is designed.

The only way you'd get a NIS message recording would be to either change your VM to a NIS recording that you've downloaded yourself, or if the apps give you the ability to forward a list to a custom number, forward the call to a dummy number like 604-555-1234.

Depending on your carrier and plan, you may incur charges for call forwarding your line.

Pretty much any media player should, including the stock one. I use VLC.

way2quik 08-23-2015 04:52 PM

If stock doesn't play certain video files, I always use MX Player.

!Yaminashi 08-23-2015 05:23 PM

On android MX Player is the best IMO. It'll basically play anything you throw at it.
I've had times where audio failed to play for some reason but that's been less than 5 times.

Anybody else get this email from cerberus? :okay:

Important message from Cerberus regarding your license

You received a free license for Cerberus in a promotional period. We deeply apologize, but unfortunately it was not feasible anymore to make it last for a lifetime, so your license will expire after 3 years of free service, on June 1st 2016.

We hope Cerberus helped you recover a lost or stolen device during these years, and that you will consider buying a license. Since by the time your license expires the app will be probably more expensive and subscription-based (with an annual or monthly fee), we offer you to purchase a lifetime license now with a one-time payment.

If you're interested, please contact us before the end of September using the support form on the website, or send an email to support@cerberusapp.com.

Thank you,

The Cerberus Team.

^^ Yup, got the exact same one. Can't say I am upset, since I have enjoyed using their service for free for the past couple of years. But I am certainly less than impressed.

I actually like their product / service well enough that I am considering a paid licence. Upon looking into how much the "lifetime" licence costs, I came across their support forum, and it was almost comical how upset a lot of the posters are. I can understand where they are coming from though.

For me, I wouldn't really say it was a breach of contract. As I understand it, a binding contract needs to have some sort of tangible item exchanged between the 2 parties, and when I get something for free, I really didn't give the other side anything.

sonick 09-03-2015 09:46 AM

Ya I don't mind it them reneging on the free lifetime license, and I'd be willing to pay a reasonable amount for the lifetime license. But reading the reddit threads apparently the devs have done some shady things in the past (cancelling licenses without valid reasons) that makes me think twice.

[Update: Official Statement] Many Cerberus Free 'Lifetime' Licenses Are Expiring In A Few Days Because Developers Gotta Eat

Apparently, this has been going on since August 20th, so it's kind of weird that most of us started to get emails about the license cancellations yesterday. Like most of you, I don't think too much of it simply because I had my license for free, but you can't offer a product as a lifetime license if you didn't do your due diligence on whether it was sustainable or not. I think that's the biggest piss off about it.

i use hangouts dialer to get free calling to anywhere in north america - can call mobile / landlines for as long as i want through wifi and it sounds crystal clear :)

I'm using Nexus 6 and Call Recorder by skvalex. Needs root.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...x.callrecorder

It's about 13 bucks and it just works.

The developer seems transparent at xda.

A better business decision would be to begin charging a monthly/yearly licencing fee to new customers rather than to existing. Existing customers should have their licence grandfathered for life.

If there was one app I had to spend money on Nova would be it. Totally changes everything about the way your phone looks/functions. Tesla Unread sucks and works maybe 50% of the time. I still get Nova though.
