On another note... anyone know of an app that will play YouTube vids in the background?

You could try using pvstar+

I just found out my American made spotify account from before works flawlessly. If you don't want to wait for an invite, you can download Hola Better Internet (chrome extension) to proxy that you're in the states.
Create an account and then you'll be able to sign in without proxying anymore.

Need a new game to play :okay:

I think the app is relatively new (on the Android platform), but I am SOOOOOO glad that it is finally here:

Google Hangouts Dialer

The app is straight from Google itself, and it is by far the most trouble-free landline / cel phone calling app I have used. As is the case with all N.American numbers dialed through Google Hangout, all N.American voice calls are free.

The most surprising thing I found is, the voice calling doesn't just work when you are on WiFi; it also works when I am plainly using HSPA+. I was totally not expecting that at all.

Greenify is pretty good.. for those that dont know... I set all the apps/games I dont need to let greenify hibernate it until I need it again.. My battery has been a lot better...

I could use tasker but I looked at how to set it and it looks confusing.. lol

Hola is no doubt the best app ever. US Netflix FTW!

Any suggestions on free/paid apps for watching tv shows/movies?

I only watch sports, so I have no idea what's even out there

Arirang 10-04-2014 01:37 PM

I like using xbmc with the icefilms addon. It takes a bit of setup to get it working though.

mk1freak 10-05-2014 11:44 AM

Alongside xbmc i use popcorn, it has a built in VPN ,works on windows, and android and its super user friendly.

I won't post links as its you know what, but pm if you want more info :ifyouknow:

Nokia Here Maps officially available as an Open Beta to all Android devices

HERE for Android beta | HERE

It runs very smoothly on my N5 and you can download maps and Nokia Drive is included (unlike when I first tried there Here Maps for Samsung)

I've had a couple of bugs already with this beta:

I tried downloading the High bitrate voice guidance files (around 50mbs each) but am told I don't have enough memory -_- even though I can download all the maps available...

I thought maybe the installed low-bitrate voice file may be conflicting with the download so I deleted the included voice file only to find that didn't do anything and now I can't even download the low-bitrate audio files... I'm told that my connection dies even though the download completes and am simply waiting for the file to install

so a couple of minor kinks so far (major if you delete the only voice guidance file included :lol)

It's apparently US only, so I'm not sure if any of us will get it in Canada.

TOS'd 10-28-2014 01:24 PM

I have Inbox, havent had time to play with it though so no comment there.

hi-revs 10-28-2014 02:06 PM

any good free music app with a good selection of music?
I've been using Tunein radio for awhile. Its decent, but want something that offers a bit more.

TOS'd 10-28-2014 02:14 PM

TuneIn has tons of options I found.

Another app to try is Galaxie Player, they recently changed to Stingray something now, its the 400 channels on Shaw Cable. True internet radio. You can sign in with a shaw email address.

Spotify. Lots of play lists, music streaming app. But you need an invite for a Canadian account. There are ways to sign up and use a US account though.

8tracks is decent as well. Minimal advertisements. Lots of play lists, music streaming app.

These are ones I've used, I'm sure there are many more.

Dunno if this has been mentioned anywhere yet, but on my phone I have like 3-4 gmail accounts logged in.

I received an Inbox invite for one of the gmail accounts, my main CDN one. I downloaded the app and selected to log in with the one that received the invite. From the side menu (similar to Google Play Store's side menu where you can see differetn accounts), I could see all my other gmail accounts and I tapped each one, I received an email from Google saying welcome to Inbox for each account.

I even checked on the browser and was able to sign into each gmail account individually and they all had inbox.

TLDR: If you know a friend with Inbox. Sign into your gmail account on their phone, open Inbox and tap on your email to activate Inbox for that email, sign out of email on friends phone. You should be able to download Inbox and sign into it with your own phone or on a web browser.

I know Samsung devices have this and I believe iphones.. not sure.. I dont use iphones...

Unfortuneately, My OnePlus One device doesnt show this or at least I can not get into this mode... Is there an app that can show us this...
