recommendations for an app that you can input your purchases. something with good visuals/graphics and being able to sort things into categories would be nice. paid and free apps are okay.

^I use Mint but you have to enter your online banking info

sonick 01-28-2015 09:35 AM

I use mint too, but this is a popular competitor/alternative if you don't like entering bank info online:

Personal Budget Software - Finance Software for Windows & Mac

I use this.

Clean, simple, and easy to use. A bit bare compared to the others, but gets the job done.

pvstar should be on the amazon app store. so you gotta download the amazon app store from the google play store first.

As shady as uploading your information to Mint is, I still use it for tracking my finances. In the end I found that it was no different than uploading your tax information (Mint is by Intuit, the same people behind TurboTax).

I find that the apps/programs that require manual input just don't work out due to laziness. Mint doesn't track cash transactions, but it will track you taking the money out of the account. On top of that, you can "tag" and "comment" on transactions just in case you look back and wonder "what the hell did I spend x on y for?"

TOS'd 01-29-2015 05:44 PM

I'll take a look at the suggestions. I do want to track cash transactions as well so I might give JayEch suggested a try.

I'm not really looking to track what happens with my banking account, just an overview of what I'm spending on food, parking, gas, purchases, etc.

I use You Need a Budget and really like it. The only limitation is that you need to buy the desktop software in order to use the mobile version, and the mobile version is very limited. It's mostly used to enter transactions while you're not at your computer. But the desktop software is really good IMO.

That's pretty much what Mint does best.

Mint requires bank info though. I use more than one bank as well.

sonick 01-31-2015 07:39 AM

Mint consolidates all accounts into your mint account.

I have my laptop hooked up to my TV, which is my main monitor, and I use it from the couch with a wireless keyboard and mouse.

I've recently started using Pushbullet, which is incredible! You can push info from your android to PC and vice versa, so when you find a page or an image or link on either device, you can just send it to the other, ie finding a pic on your PC then sending it to a friend via text.

Also, all my alerts on my phone pop up on my screen, so I don't have to look at my phone to see who texted me or What's Apped me. And you can respond to texts from your pc and clear them on your phone.

For my use, it's been the coolest, most useful app I've found in a while.

Here Maps - it's got offline storage, so you can do offline directions.

You can use as many bank accounts as you want. I use BMO and TD and I entered both of them into Mint

Use the standard maps instead of Satellite view, that will use a LOT less.

I use Locus for offline... download maps from Bing, Google, Mapquest, or a ton of others... satellite, standard, terrain, whatever. They also have vector maps you can buy.

Does navigation, track recording, plugins for Foursquare, geocaching, augmented reality, tons of other stuff...

Anyone know a Music Player on Android that supports iTunes podcast track support? Example, Hardwell podcasts on a ipod/iphone will have support for tracks or "bookmarks". I want to replicate this on my phone.

LsquareD 05-15-2015 09:38 PM

Anyone have a alternative app for pvstar+? Youtube videos are no longer searchable and it's not the in play store anymore.

I've been using Maps.Me

It's a solid app that I've been using for some time now. I'll give HERE a try as well!

Been having some fun with DriveMate KingKong. It's a GPS speedometer with the same speed chime warning in the AE86. Takes a while to lock onto GPS though.

Hound

Recently saw some reviews and got interested.. I applied for invite code last week and just got the code.. Its not available for Canada yet but I downloaded the APK and tried it out.. not bad.. pretty neat

APK Mirror, if you want to try it out

Soundy 07-07-2015 01:59 PM

Been playing with Hound a little... can't get it to launch properly from press-hold on my headset button, and even when I do, I still have to tell it "OK, Hound" before giving a command.

FerrariEnzo 07-07-2015 07:36 PM

still in beta.. but when it works, seems be a lot better then Google Now...
