Nobody could have predicted Google would dump the price of it so much when they dropped to $350 outright. Seeing how it`s still available from Fido w/o agreement for $350 today, $250 is pretty good for bnib. |

i got mine for free essentially so im not mad at all :fullofwin: at $250 for bnib, it's pretty good imo. i'm not really up to date with the market for cellphones in terms of pricing but the gnex is a pretty good phone, lots of support for customiztion |
I got mine for $200 with otterbox; not BNIB but it may as well have been. It's not a terrible deal, but there's a dude selling an 8gig N4 on CL for $320. Or at least there was yesterday when I looked. |
Nexus 4 prices seem to be dropping to a somewhat reasonable price now. There's still the odd idiot that thinks he'll sell for $600 lol |
This is still a pretty good phone and if you can get one for low $200 it's a deal. |

i've noticed my phone started lagging this past month...must be all the crap installed i've always wanted to try custom ROM...or may be I'll wait for Ubuntu that's available next month |

I'm using LeanKernel 5.8 as well since SkinnyPupp seems to have good results with it. It's a good kernel both performance and battery-wise. I'm also using a slightly older build of Purity ROM (v3.1) which I feel has a good balance of features vs unnecessary bloat compared to other roms. Give it a try! |

I'm moving to an N4 in a week or so... But in the meantime, Paranoid Android finally went up to 3.0. ...as a Release Candidate. Whatever, it's a step up! |

Android 4.2.2! [ROM][OTA][GSM]Android 4.2.2 JDQ39: Rooted Busybox Deodexed/Odexed (2/12/13) - xda-developers Only custom kernel that works so far is Fugumod: [KERNEL][GPL][JB] FuguMod kernel (open, stable, reliable and secure) - xda-developers So far I've noticed that the bluetooth bug seems to be fixed (didn't disconnect on my drive to work), notification pull down is slower/smoother (?), and you can long-press on wifi and bluetooth tiles in Quick Settings to toggle them. Not sure what other changes.. edit: I always have bad luck with fugumod kernels. Always run super low on memory (<90MB after a few hours) which makes my phone lag like crazy. If other ppl having this problem maybe stick to stock kernel for now or try AK: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1883298 |
mrks, I couldn't tell you specifically how they are 'cause I never run stock kernels. It's a bit smoother and snappier than it was before (I'm on Franco). I'm never far from a charger anymore, so I'm not a good one to ask about battery life either. |
Anyone in here interested in selling their Nexus that has extended battery as well? |

So I'm passing on my Gnex to my mom (she needed a new phone and it was her birthday, so...hey!) but I need to give it a thorough cleansing; I want to take off all the user data, pictures, and the works from it. If I go into the recovery and select "factory reset", will that do it all, or do I need to do something else as well? I'm running a custom ROM and will be leaving it on for her, so I'm not sure what I need to do in order to make sure I wipe all the data but leave the ROM and all that intact. I'd really rather not brick a gift for my mom. |
I would highly recommend you just flash the factory images for 4.2.2 that was added today: https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aos...y-5e273f02.tgz Takju is preferred. Using the -w command for Fastboot flashing will completely wipe the device of all personal data. Another advantage of flashing factory image is that you wouldn't have to worry in the future for updates. Just let the OTA do its thing = less worry/headaches as far as support/hassle since your mom probably won't be using most advanced features (?) I don't know of any other easier/faster way of getting rid of all your data completely on the phone other than via fastboot wiping when flashing factory rom. Factory reset in CWM/TWRP will not wipe your pics and stuff. |
Crud. I've never worked through fastboot commands. Got a link to a walkthrough? Yay for learning coding! |
Hmm..I've never used the Toolkit before, but it looks like it's Option 9 in there: [GNex TOOLKIT V10.1] Drivers, Backup, Unlock, Root, CWM, Flash, Mods + MORE [GSM] - xda-developers OR: Q. How do I Update to the latest Google Stock Rom (manually)? THE FOLLOWING PROCESS WILL ERASE YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE BACKUP ANYTHING YOU NEED. You can use the GN ToolKit which will do everything automatically or execute the following steps. Or you can follow the following instructions and do it manually: These steps assume that you have set up your adb/fastboot drivers correctly. 1. Download it from: https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aos...y-5e273f02.tgz 2. Unzip it to a folder on your pc. 3. Copy the file fastboot-windows.exe to this folder (you can find the fastboot file in many places including my ToolKit download on post#1). 4. Browse to this folder on your pc, hold the 'shift' key down while right clicking on a blank area of the window and select 'Open command window here' to open a command prompt in that folder. 5. Boot the phone into Fastboot Mode (KEEP holding the 'Volume up' and 'Volume down' buttons while pressing the 'Power' button). 6. Connect your device via the usb cable 7. In the command prompt type: fastboot-windows devices which should return your phones serial number and prove you are connected. 8. To flash the google images type the following: Quote: fastboot-windows flash bootloader bootloader-maguro-primekk15.img fastboot-windows reboot-bootloader fastboot-windows flash radio radio-maguro-i9250xxkk6.img fastboot-windows reboot-bootloader fastboot-windows -w update image-yakju-icl53f.zip 9. Press the power button to boot into pure Android and complete the setup. Except obviously replace the above names in the flashboot commands with the correct filenames for newest radios, image, and bootloader for 4.2.2 now. |
Score. Thanks for the tip about the toolkit, I didn't realize that option 9 would do the wipe too. |
just wondering how to get my calendar app to shower more events. right now it shows events up to tuesday feb 19. i want it to show all of my events in my calendar and just have it so that i just need to scroll through to see them |
Anyone has their WiFi die? Thing stopped working like a month ago and its constantly stuck on "turning on...", googled it and it appears to be a hardware issue as I have rebooted and factory reset twice already. :( Posted via RS Mobile |
My wifi keeps cutting in and out on mine, where my laptop and ipad stay connected. I too am wondering if it is a hardware issue, and sometimes, very rarely ill also lose my data connection when away from wifi, turning my phone off then on often cures both of these problems |
have the same problem on mines too. my wifi would just disconnect and i have no data not even cell data until i turn off the wifi |
