at least your WiFi can connect, mine doesn't even turn on...

mrks 02-27-2013 07:40 PM

Did you try a different rom or kernel?

I have the same stuck with turning on or off problem, but for bluetooth.

The bluetooth problem has been there for me since 4.2.1. For some people it's existed since 4.0.4.
I've found that with 4.2.2 now, if the bluetooth gets stuck then just go into Settings then Apps then scroll to All. Find "bluetooth share" and Force Stop it. Then re-enable bluetooth and it should be unstuck and you can reconnect to your headset or whatever. Seems to work properly after that point until you restart the phone again.

For wifi problems, I've found the connection to be flaky and disconnect often. Try toggling wifi and letting it connect and disconnect manually a few times. Sometimes you get lucky and the connection stays connected even with screen off. If data dies when you've disabled wifi then just toggle Airplane mode on and off and your radios will kick in properly again.

I'm not sure why the latest Android versions have been having so much problem with such simple essential functions, but it seems to happen to my Gnex, Nexus 7 and I've read about people having problems with Nexus 4 as well.
By far the most stable Android version I've used is 4.1.2 so far. But I refuse to roll-back lol

Have you tried flashing back the stock factory images?

Qmx323 02-28-2013 12:38 PM

flashed to 4.2.2 and then back to 4.1.2, still stuck on "Turning on..."

Graeme S 02-28-2013 12:39 PM

Well, if the Wifi PCB is burnt out there's really nothing you can do unless you want to take it in to get it repaired. My guess, though? It's out of warranty and the Wifi PCB isn't repairable 'cause it's integrated into something else.

Hmm mine is only 3 months old, thinking maybe I should take it in.

Qmx323 02-28-2013 08:35 PM

sighhhhh, this phone is only 4 months old too......

If your phones are that young, then just RMA them.

Updated to 4.2.1, now my LED isn't coming on when I get notifications. Using Go SMS. Is the app not yet compatible, or is there something I can do to fix it?

Thanks

It happens sometimes.

Try going into settings and unchecking the notification LED. Then restart your phone and go back in and re-check it again.
I've noticed that after restarting the phone, the first or second notifications may not activate the LED. But it should work after that.

Traum 03-18-2013 09:40 PM

Glad I haven't run into any issues with my GNex on 4.2.1.

(keeping my fingers crossed...)

Qmx323 03-24-2013 09:45 AM

Anyone know where I can buy a hard case for my Galaxy Nexus that has a slot for 1 or 2 credit cards? Ebay, locally, anywhere really. TIA.

Traum 11-14-2013 11:38 AM

Resurrecting this thread from the catacombs -- I've just upgraded a family GNex to JB 4.3 using Google's factory ROM, and so far, everything has been working flawlessly. For such an "old" phone, I'm quite impressed that Google is still providing this level of support for it.

We'll see whether KitKat get released for this old girl. (but I am not counting on it...)

TPMarko 11-14-2013 01:31 PM

they've already come out and said no kitkat for galaxy nexus.

Is Google releasing Android 4.4 as a system update for Galaxy Nexus?

No, Galaxy Nexus phones won’t be receiving the update for Android 4.4 (KitKat).

Why isn’t Galaxy Nexus receiving the update to Android 4.4?

Galaxy Nexus, which first launched two years ago, falls outside of the 18-month update window when Google and others traditionally update devices.

How does 4.4 look on the GNex (laggy, buggy and whatnot), I have 1 lying around and was I'm thinking about giving it to my dad and was wondering if I should keep it at 4.3 JB or put 4.4 KK on it.
