LOL, I'm currently stuck with too many options for Roms. Deciding between purity, liquidsmooth and cm10

whats PA?

Liquidsmooth was always a home run for me

theevilslave 01-11-2013 08:32 PM

Ye just installed liquid smooth, got surprised by the language at first

impulseX 01-12-2013 11:24 PM

installed liquid smooth last night with franco kernel. im blown away by how much faster and more smooth it is compared to the bigxie rom. and the battery life is definitely a plus!

Not to mention the extreme customization

!MiKrofT 01-13-2013 01:17 AM

Bigxie is just the stock rom with root, superuser, busybox. It's not really any different which is why others will probably be better.

SkinnyPupp 01-13-2013 01:22 AM

I am not that happy with the speed of stock 4.2. I think I am going to try one of the others. I don't want one that is too customized though, usually it breaks more things than it fixes

!MiKrofT 01-13-2013 08:24 AM

Android Revolution HD is as close to stock you can get. Almost all the other popular roms have mods like slimbean, liquid smooth, xylon, paranaoidandroid, etc. Have a look at minco. I've heard good things about them but not sure how much customizing they've done to the rom. I know at least the kernel is good since its Franco.

wingies 01-13-2013 08:30 AM

liquid smooth has a stable 4.2.1? Anyone have a link please?

SkinnyPupp 01-13-2013 08:41 AM

Franco kernels have been shit since 4.2 though.

R5x 01-13-2013 11:13 AM

I'm giving Purity rom a try right now.
Was on nightlies for cm10.1 + latest franco for the longest time, but I find there is a memory leak after using a day or so and my phone slows to a crawl until a restart.

Ahh. That's too bad. It's probably because his focus is now on nexus 4.

CRS 01-13-2013 02:52 PM

So I'm still running 4.1.1. and I haven't received any updates.

I tried the clearing google framework, checkin, check for updates and nothing.

Any ideas what I should do?

Graeme S 01-13-2013 03:05 PM

If you're on Yakju, wait.

If you feel comfortable fucking with your phone, root it, unlock the bootloader, and load a takju 4.2 build. Yakju is the Canadian version and is updated by Samsung whose reaction to timely updates is basically :fuckthatshit:

How so? I've been running franco on xylon and I'm doing 12 hours with constant emails, whatsapp, browsing.

SkinnyPupp 01-19-2013 03:39 AM

Installed Revolution 9.0 and LeanKernel 5.8. So far the performance and battery difference is instantly noticeable. Let's see if it holds up stability-wise!

Is $250 for a BNIB model a decent deal?

It's a pretty good deal for a phone that is still decent. The Nexus 4 has really crushed the re-sale value of this phone (and many others). It's amazing how a fully unlocked smartphone for $250 bnib that a year ago was $600 is now considered only OK.

Are you confusing the GNexus with the S3? I don't ever remember the GNexus being a $600 phone.

The Gnex was $599 outright when it was first released in North America from all the carriers. Even as recently as 6 months ago, Bell was still selling it for that much.

Wow, that's nuts... the early adopters must be kicking themselves...
