anyone having trouble reconnecting wifi/3g upon waking up on stock 4.1.2?

i know it was a widespread problem in 4.0.2...seems to be back for me.

Is anybody having trouble connecting data on Fido?
My network says 3g/HSPA but doesn't connect data. It's grey bars btw.

Check your APN settings?

Everything is fine until data won't work...
I had this phone for about 5 months and this happened.
I already paid off my monthly bill.

Did you do anything to your phone recently? Or one day it just stopped working on its own? Did you check your apns as suggested above?

No I haven't.
It stopped working on its own since last thursday.
And yes I did checked my apns, it's perfectly fine.

Weird. I'm on Fido and no problems here with the Nexus.

Unless Fido did something to your account (?) Try sim in another phone?

can anyone tell me why 20% of my battery is going to maps when i havent even touched it in the 14hrs since last charge?

Locations on? Using a check-in app that requires maps and/or GPS connection?

Maybe your maps froze in a open state .... restart your phone to close all the apps

Turn off Google Latitude if it's running?

yea that's the problem I constantly have as well, at least once or twice a day, it drives me nuts... full signal bars with 3G symbol but bars are grey and I don't have those up/down arrows. I have to restart my phone every time to get them to go blue again and get the up/down arrows working and my data comes back on.
Check a few pages back someone posted a potential fix for that I have thanked his post, you should see it there. I haven't done the fix yet myself, but the other thing I was told by Wind staff is to call the Wind centre and have them input just like Mikroft said, a few lines of APN settings that should resolve the issue.



So the other week I was trying to use some app from my phone right, I'm not 100% sure which one it was I think it was Notepad or some other connection irrelevant app that should have absolutely no need to connect to anything to work.... but in any case, I remember specifically because it blew my mind when it said it would not start because it couldn't establish a connection to Google, I thought Apple was bad....
Passing this phone onto my little bro, but my next Android I am definitely having my friend root the shit out of it, so I can have full control of my device.

What version number are you on? Sometimes reflashing your fw fixes things if its been buggy.

CNA + Trinity seems to be my holy grail for things. <3 (Fixed my screen off, wifi/3g drop restart issue)
Im still giving it a month till I decide to update from 4.1.1 though.

Both the keyboard and camera from 4.2 have been leaked and are available for download from xda. Keyboard is still not the final version but seems to work Ok. Still like swift key more personally.

Camera interface is nicer.

I had an issue with the camera.. It drained my battery and made my phone hot. Just removed for now. I'm ordering the Nexus 4 anyways so it'll come soon enough hahah.

Hate the launcher

So what's a good one? I used to use LauncherPro, and even have a license, but I don't know if they have been maintaining it...

I guess it would depend on why you dislike the stock launcher.
I'm using nova launcher and it's considered one of the best.

I'm more surprised you're not looking for a different kernel. The stock colors are terrible with the gnex.

I am just starting with stock for now, I'll play around with something else later. What are some recommended roms? Not Cyanogen though, I never had good luck with that.

Cyanogenmod10 is actually really good on the nexus and a lot of other roms use their enhancements.

Paranoidandroid is my preferred because it's the only one that is not affected by the stupid multi task/screen sensitivity lag problem. It's cm based though.

Aokp is popular but is more bloated now.

CNA and liquid are fast and feature filled. Rasbean is apparently very fast too.

Nova Launcher or Apex Launcher are my preferences.

I also use Paranoid Android in phone mode.

Other good ROMs would be: LiquidSmooth, AOKP, Slimbean.

I'm running paranoid with nova and I love it. phablet/tablet mode for everything, it's great. Best way to use all the screen's real estate I've found.

what do you guys think about go launcher? is it sucky?

Yeah it's bloated with crapware. I am using Nova now, very good. It seems to be best on taking the stock launcher and making it better

Will check out some of the roms mentioned.
