So please explain why EVERY single driver got charged with the same offence and had their vehicle impounded? Was there sufficient evidence against each and every one of them? Or was it a matter of the cops' misuse of power and being able to assess penalties without the ability to dispute the charge. This is why I opposed the impound laws from day 1.

If you have a convoy of 13 cars and the first 6 decide to speed and race and screw around, and the last 2 cars are tagging along and trying to stay within a reasonable proximity to the speed limit or flow of traffic, that is NOT being an accessory to an offence as an abettor. Not in this universe at least.

A gang of 13 guys walk down the street and 6 of them decide to rob a bank, 2 of them commit murder while doing so, and the other 7 just stand back and watch and don't help in any way - Do you HONESTLY think that they all get the same punishment?

I'm not defending these dickwads speeding on the highway together nor am I unhappy with the job the rcmp did getting all the cars impounded as best they could. I know police have a tough time enforcing the law even when the offense was blatant and obvious with plenty of witnesses..but what I DO hate is when police take a piece of law or legislation and use it in a way it was NOT intended, or when they assume guilt on people that haven't done anything wrong, or at least not to the extent that they are being accused of.

I had a HUGE fit with a pedestrian about this once too. I was driving near denman and pacific, picking up a friend near the gazebo in the park there. It's a 50kph zone until you get to pacific where it a 30kph playground zone during daylight. It's a super short block with speedbumps. I would stall the car in 2nd gear.
