i think krispy kreme is delicious :alone:

unit 09-20-2025 07:06 AM

i like them too, but just the original glazed one.
prefer it to the hipster $5 earl grey, blood orange, hint of juniper donuts any day.

whitev70r 09-20-2025 07:12 AM

feel for you peasants who haven't had a good donut. I think we've had this discussion before. KK, Lee's, etc. .... all pretty same ... crappy sugar dough.

Goldie's at Horseshoe Bay
Fox & Oak in Squamish
Harmony's in North Van, I've had it once but I don't remember it so it can't be that good.

westopher 09-20-2025 07:13 AM

Cream pony is top notch doughnut.
Saying there’s no difference in doughnuts is like saying there’s no difference in bread. Sorry you don’t have a palate peasants.

whitev70r 09-20-2025 07:15 AM

K, trust Westopher on this ... must try next time I'm in the Shipyards area. Speaking of, car free day today in North Van. Either go and enjoy or stay the hell away from the area ... :lol. Love Shipyards btw, it would be the only thing to convince me to buy a condo at the Shipyards facing Vancouver skyline.

supafamous 09-20-2025 07:22 AM

Cream Pony is great. I also really like the crueller from Lucky's. Not really a fan of Honey's.

Badhobz 09-20-2025 07:33 AM

NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN! Don’t trust ze white menz…. All too sweet.

unit 09-20-2025 07:58 AM

you know you're an asian (or hozier) when you find everything too sweet

whenever you are with asians eating a birthday cake there is guaranteed always a comment about how good it is because it's not too sweet

This craft donut trend, while good is overpriced like craft beer or kombucha or whatever white people hype up

Badhobz 09-20-2025 09:22 AM

DATS RIGHT! Fuck you whitey!

Take that CamBooooCHA shit and get outttaaaa heeeeeer. You and your too sweet confectionaries.

I remember this one time, a few months ago. I went to Krispy Kream Kunts, and I asked this very demotivated buddy girl to get me some of those doughnuts before it hits the glaze fountain.
She looked at me like uhhh what? YOU JUST WANT THE DOUGH?! I’m like NO NOT THE FUCKING DOUGH, the cooked ones, but before they hit the glaze. She’s like why? IM LIKE CUZ I HATE FUCKING SWEET SHIT. She then eye balled me up and down, had a big stupid grin and said yeah okay you should probably not have anymore sweets.

I then went home and added ever so lightly a tiny line of organic maple syrup… PERFECT. That’s how I’ve been eating my doughnuts ever since.

Or, like craft beer of certain varieties, you pay more cause the ingredients are better, the process takes more effort, and it tastes better.

S tier

True.

It's the best way to have their doughnuts. Gawd, I have to remember to spell it like an amrucican "Donut"

mikemhg 09-20-2025 10:59 AM

West is right -- Krispy Kreme are C or D-tier donuts, they suck. Too sweet, you can't even taste the actual donut over the nagging sweet icing. They're not even worth the calories.

I'm all for the hipster donuts, Cream Pony, Lucky's, Donut Love, Lee's, Harmony Donuts, even Duffin's (their glazed donut is S tier).

If you're going to cheat by eating a donut with all the sugar and crap, you might as well spend a little more and eat a good one god damnit.

Badhobz 09-20-2025 11:17 AM

Y’all ever make one yourself ? It can’t be that hard to make…

unit 09-20-2025 11:33 AM

i find that deep frying at home is never worth it... i save that stuff for the restaurants.

mikemhg 09-20-2025 11:43 AM

^Totally agree.

Deep frying at home is rarely worth it, you have to deal with the dirty oil, the mess, etc. You waste a ton of oil because you likely aren't going to use it again anytime soon.

I've made fried chicken at home, and while good, always felt it's better just buying from a restaurant instead.

Donuts, and even pizza to a degree fall under that same criteria.

whitev70r 09-20-2025 12:49 PM

Man, has anyone been to Squamish lately? There is a new waterfront area, it's dope! You have to keep on going past main area, past industrial area, and then badabing, it opens up. House of Lager Brewery ...great place to eat. So nice, hipster, full of white people.

As someone who bakes their own sourdough, there's a place for shitty white sandwich bread too! Just like there's a place for deep fried sugar bombs instead of $5 hipster donuts

red kryptonite 09-21-2025 12:13 AM

who makes a good honey cruller?
