The SUB Upstairs: A&W, Subway, Manchu Wok, Koya - shitty versions of average food. Avoid. The Salad/Pho bar - salad bar is decent if you don't buy the pre-made salads (potato/pasta) because those are heavy and they charge by weight. Pho is passable if you really want pho. Blue Chip Cookies - go there. Always. Cookies and coffee are second to none. Coffee beats Starbucks but the lattes don't. Starbucks - super busy and the staff are friendly, worth it if you want to wait in line Bernoulli's Bagels - plain bagels are good. Sandwiches and open face bagels overpriced. Pi R Squared - meh. Not my favourite. Downstairs: The Moon - chinese take out. My favourite place in the SUB. For $6.50 you can't eat better The Delly - freshly made sandwiches, premade sandwiches, samosas. Super discounts Friday after 3 pm. Always enjoy it. Honour Roll - some rolls are good, rest are pretty bad. My favourite are Spicy Scallop Roll and Spicy Crunchy roll. Expensive unless you're on UBC card. In the Cup - korean food. $3 cup of spicy rice cakes and $3.50 korean sushi Burger Bar/The Pit - decent burgers and their daily specials are well priced Sprouts - free food fridays. Show up early with your own plates/tupperware/utensils and get your free nom on. The BBT place - pretty forgettable. Campus Cafes These are everywhere and all run by UBC food services and they're all pretty much the same. I'm just going to comment on the stand-out ones. Ponderosa cake is the best thing that's come out of UBC. Its available at all of the cafes on campus. The Loop @ CIRS - their stews and salads are really good. So if their lemonade and other special drinks they make. Ike's at Irving - their samosas are my favourite on campus and people love to get their sandwich and salad combos. Everywhere else The Village has a basement where everything is pretty decent (sushi, a mongolian grill, middle eastern, indian, chinese, pho). At street level there's a McDonalds, Pita Pit, Subway, Freshslice, Veras, Starbucks, bbt place, and a sushi place. Upstairs is another sushi place. This is the place to be for people living on rez since there's so much variety. Wesbrook Village has Hung's Beef Noodles and Menchies. Take advantage of deals like Freshslice Tuesday, Triple-O's tuesday (by Sauder), and Delly Fridays. Eating on campus a lot gets expensive. The Tim Hortons at Sauder has longer lines than at Forestry but moves faster since they don't serve sandwiches. The Starbucks on Agronomy is my favourite, since its not run by UBC food service and has the friendliest staff. |
im looking at ubc on google maps and im already lost :fuckthatshit: |
lol iv been here for a year and I still dunno most of the buildings... I just follow people to the exam locations and all my classes are in one building. |
instant: where are kin classes usually? or are they scattered around campus? |

But UBC is huge, after 5 years there are still many places I've yet to go to. |

Depends on the courses you take. You'll get used to the big campus in less than a month. Nerve racking first week tho, I remember. Quote:
to be, with like ammunition and shell storages LOL |

I'd say familiarize yourself with the location of wood, osborne, hennings, swing, chem. But you'll most likely get used to running to and fro from place to place to go anywhere on campus |

I end up always getting green tea frapp from starbucks and wraps/french vanilla from timmies because I am so sick of everything else. Moon is okay if you get the sweet and sour pork when its freshly made and crunchy. Sushi is horrible at the SUB. Triple O's is disgusting imo... except for their onion rings and honey mustard sauce. Blue chip cookies is good for cookies =D Bernoulli's reminds me of fluid dynamics so i never go there. EDIT: fuck exams 2 down 4 more to go. |
I hate triple o's onion rings. Onions are super chewy :X Sushi.... Shall we even call them "sushi"? It's the worst sushi you'll ever have. Even the sushi made by improperly trained Mexicans when I went to Maya Riviera last year tasted better than Honor Roll" sushi" Don't eat the Sub's pho. The Moon's bbq'ed pork with noodle tastes way better and cheaper too. I usually get the deli stuff. Their food is half off on Fridays after 3! Or soup is half off every day after 3 Coconut curry chicken soup is my fav :3 triple chocolate brownie is amaaaazing too. Not a huge fan of their wraps as I found them a bit too dry for me. And I'd rather eat deli's sandwich over subway on main floor |
I finished at ubc about a year ago. Simply Pasta on the main floor next to a&w was decent. Everything else is crap. Avoid the subway, you'll get a mess that tastes like a mess. Only U cafe (i think that's what its called) in the village has decent food and reasonably priced. I used to get breakfast there on sunday mornings. The burrito spot in the village is horrible and the indian spot i think rasoe, i have no idea why it's still open. Mahony's and sons is good food but expensive. Also, dominos on dunbar delivers to ubc and u can pay with your student card. They usually have some kind of student special going on. |
why is the most of the food so shitty? do they all just hire one ethnicity (no racist)or do they just not care cause people will still buy it? i can't fathom how people can fuck up a subway sub |
Some of these reviews are a bit exaggerated. Its not gourmet food but its not gonna make your lunch experience horrible either. |
Honestly, most of the food is decent. We just like to bitch. Except for the Japanese place above McDicks and the Chinese food place (University Village Restaurant) in the village. Those are just garbage. |
Honour Roll is honestly the most disgusting FOOD I've ever eaten, nevermind sushi. Honestly, I'd rather not eat. |
