Yeah im in need of upper level electives actually. Looking for non-science.

My definition of easy: few projects, lesser content, prof is nice and approachable, lecture slides are easy to follow and textbook is only a correspondence to lecture material.

Averages arent as strong of an indicator to me as opposed to the factors i listed above

I took Philosophy of Law and liked it. It's interesting if you're into critical thinking and stuffs like that.

Exams are quite tolerable and lectures are pretty nice. Not much reading that you have to do even thought there are assigned readings. Took it with Tim Christie but I think he's only a seasonal prof there.

Try some upper level psyc courses? Most only require you to have first year psyc as pre-requisite

PSYC 101/102

should it really matter which one to take? easier/harder, pros/cons?

I found 102 easier than 101, as 102 is more social psychology while 101 is more cogs which I absolutely dislike with a passion. I failed 101 as I had zero interest in it and simply could not wrap my head around studying for it when there were more important courses to prepare for  looking back I definitely regret not putting slightly more effort into it, or had I known earlier about the drop date I would've done so.

102 on the other hand is pretty interesting and marks in the mid 60s-70s are certainly achievable if hard work is put in. I got a 50% as I found the material slightly difficult, but apparently the entire PSYC department in UBC scales everything to 68%

It's definitely not for everyone and it's certainly not a GPA booster.

Random note: CERS 201 002 is an amazing GPA booster, 90% avg from last year and all you do is watch Harry Potter and learn about witches, not a joke. But only section 002 though.

My bad, it's CENS not CERS.

kcl38 07-02-2013 01:09 PM

Every year my friends with registration before mine have offered to save spots..every year I've failed to take them up on it and regret it :okay:

same question... LING 100 vs LING 101?

Nlkko 07-02-2013 10:16 PM

psyc are not easy electives what the fuck are you guys smoking :heckno: The amount of shits you have to memorize is unbearable.

SchoolGlue 07-02-2013 10:49 PM

poli 346 was pretty easy with no pre-reqs either. It was my last course before I graduated really enjoyed debating about the intricacies of correctness in democratic societies and this is from a science student.

two reports, one essay and one final

Taking it online right now. Very interesting course but tons of content (typical psych class) and very textbook reliant (which is understandable since its an online class) but my friends that have taken it in class have said you depend on the text too.

how do you find it compared to 208?

EUPHORiA1911 07-04-2013 01:32 PM

I think I f*cked up.... I didn't take BIOL 112 cause of full course load in first year now I need to take BIOL 200 (which needs BIOL 112 as a prereq). With that said, it is offered in second term next year, but it is online. Does anyone have experience with BIOL 200 online? I've heard it's a hard course, but at the same time it's a prereq for everything, which is scaring me.

I found 208 easier than 314, largely because Dr.Wehr had good course notes + he didn't add much from the text (other than those afterthoughts you told me about)

Oh I see.

but neglecting teaching styles and presentation, how do the two compare with each other in terms of content?

Easier? Harder? Dry? Boring? Interesting? etc etc
