I tweeted at shawhelp and they said everything has been fine and dandy from their end. Only a single drop from what they can see. However, I've had it drop for 3 days in a row around midnight.

They're saying it may be my power source, after which I inform them that it is plugged into the wall, and then they say it may be the problem of the cable itself. I don't know.

Looks like there is a large shaw outage in many parts of Canada. Including Nanaimo and Vancouver.

Shaw's network is spotty at best in terms of reliability!

anytime shaw upgrades their: modem firmware, set top box firmware, their backbone infrastructure, or their own system software, shit goes wrong and causes massive outages LOL

heisenberg 04-28-2017 01:30 AM

i heard from an employee that they think something knocked one of their lines down

Hondaracer 04-28-2017 07:02 AM

Yesterday my gateway TV's weren't working, only displaying "contact Shaw to purchase these channels" while the suite had its Motorola DCX3400's working fine. Had to unplug and reset the main gateway hub in order for it to work again if anyone else experience the same problem

Recently it hasn't been great, in the past it's been rock solid at least from my experience. I was originally on Rogers and had my cable internet with them since they took over Western Canada and everyone on Rogers had to switch to Shaw in 2000 I could count my outages on 1 hand over 17 years.

I've had Telus at my work (2 different employers) from late 90s until last year, that's the definition of Spotty connection so many issues.
