What there’s is a Hitler gathering ?!?!? Half of the cars won’t even make it in….

The vape smoke in the parking lot and backwards baseball hats will blot out the sky.

You're trying to compare an auto with torque converter (ZF) with a manual transmission.

Ahh I was thinking conventional autos.

It is not turbo lag but rather the transmission not being engaged (clutch open) and having to engage when you get on the gas.

Are you DSG? What mode are you in? If DSG, and you want to have a quick response, shift into S or manual which will reduce clutch lockup time and have a better response. Otherwise, give the car a tiny bit of gas, just enough to creep, to engage the transmission and tell the car brain "hey doofus I'm going to start moving"

In D, the car is trying to be smooth so clutch engagement is slower than normal.

Basically, I often shift into S at stoplights/unprotected left turns to make sure that the car response is optimized.

If that is not enough, I suggest getting a TCU tune.

I don't think I have a DSG. From what I can google, it's a ZF 6HP19A. Sport mode makes the throttle feel normal, but I don't like the higher shift points.

Ah ok, that year should be the ZF 6 speed automatic. I think in that case it's just the tuning on the throttle. I am not saying you have to drive in Sport all the time, but just at the stop light/while waiting for left turn - slap into S, once you're done the turn put it back into D.

More permanent option is get it flashed for either ECU or TCU tune.

Badhobz 05-08-2025 04:02 PM

Q5 sounds like a decent daily.. but yes, be careful of the maintenance

JDMDreams 05-08-2025 04:37 PM

^^ yea my cousin just returned her lease early cuz it was so shit and had so many problems

trollface 05-08-2025 05:02 PM

Why would you return early? You still owe all the money but none of the car

Badhobz 05-08-2025 06:31 PM

Lawl trolly. You’re the best.

trollface 05-09-2025 04:13 AM

Badhobz 05-09-2025 04:50 AM

*Ahem* Please excuse me while I put on my douche hat. Get ready for a stupid Porsche story. :fuckyea:

Last Sunday before leaving the track, I noticed a plastic piece dangling on the front driver side just under the bumper. I had to tuck in the plastic piece to avoid it ripping off on the drive home.

Fast forward to today, I jacked up the car to find out what it was. Turns out the front fender liner had snapped off likely due to age and/or scraping the road. I'll have to place an order to replace the broken piece. You can see the liner dangling.

At the end of the 2024 track season, I got bumped to run solo in a faster run group with my local PCA club. I'm getting faster and more proficient around the track, but I'm still using stock brake pads. So in anticipation for the 2025 track season, I decided to jump on a modification popular among the 986/987 and 996/997 track crowd by replacing the stock brake ducts with the 997 GT3 brake ducts. The 997 GT3 brake ducts help direct a larger volume of air onto the brakes to cool the pads and rotors down. It was a cheap mod and easy to replace, so I took advantage of the weather today to swap them out.

Ordering these from the Canadian dealerships was a pain in the ass. I thought I would do the right thing and support my local dealerships, but sadly, most dealers don't know how to order them (typical douchebag service) and get super confused about how to get them, so they just gave up and said, "We can't get them." All of the Porsche dealership in the GTA couldn't help me get these. WTF.

After doing some research, it turns out the GT3 brake ducts are not part of the regular Porsche catalogue, but instead, from Porsche Motorsport. They are a different entity and have their own parts catalogue, further reinforcing the Porsche douchebag stereotype. I found out how to order it for them by contacting Porsche Motorsport North America in Carson, CA directly. They reached out to the dealer and started finger pointing at each other for their incompetence, I gave up and just ordered them from FCP Euro since it was faster to get them and cheaper, despite the exchange and the risk of getting throw in US CBP jail thanks to Mr. Trump (the trip to Buffalo, NY was very pleasant, by the way.) I found out that for the local dealers to get this stupid part, it would have to come from Germany to Porsche Motorsport in Carson, CA, then shipped up to Toronto. I was like, WTF is this? Stupid trash Porsche.

You're still using stock pads? Should maybe go and upgrade those, along with the brake fluid (if you haven't already). Pad fade is scary asf.

Maybe the tracks out east aren't as bad as Mission here.

bcrdukes 05-10-2025 08:06 PM

I upgraded to WalMart SuperTech DOT 4. :troll:

CTMP doesn't use a lot of brakes, unless you're in a heavier 911 or a GT car. Some guys do blow through pads in a few weekends though. For my car, it's not heavy and I'm not fast enough to warrant an upgraded pad yet. I have a set of Hawk DTC-70s but they are loud as fuck and don't get hot enough where they don't squeal like crazy. :D

Edit: I also don't drive like BIC_BAWS. :D :D :D

Badhobz 05-10-2025 08:07 PM

Fuck that’s a lot of work to get a tiny piece of metal….. stupid beetles.

bcrdukes 05-10-2025 08:34 PM

Actually, it was plastic. :lol

SRF or bust!

Also you don't have to go crazy straight to the Hawk DTCs... can get something like the PowerStop Track Day/Track Day Spec pads.

BIC_BAWS 05-10-2025 10:52 PM

Track Day SPEC, don't get the non-spec version.. Ask me how I know LOL

bcrdukes 05-11-2025 12:36 PM

Please enlighten all of us.

68style 05-11-2025 03:25 PM

^ you don’t remember the no brakes into turn at mission clip? Lol

bcrdukes 05-11-2025 05:01 PM

Oh, that. :fuckthatshit:

roastpuff 05-11-2025 09:46 PM

Threw money at it only to find out that the issue was not the issue...

bcrdukes 05-12-2025 05:44 AM

I guess FCP Euro can't do lifetime return on that. :troll:

FCP Euro doesn't stock Honda parts anyways

EDIT: My money comment was not on BIC_BAWS, I've been trying to chase down an idle problem on my S2000 and what I thought was the issue was not the issue after all...
