The JCW isn't even that girly.

I drove my wife's Cooper all the time, red with white top, pink plate frames, cat stickers.

Semi related to Hobz misadventures with brakes, now that I'm dailying my Grand Cherokee the slight clunk in the front end was really annoying me and I had a hunch I knew what it was. Sure enough the shop that did the alignment and overcharged the hell out of me for some ball joints had left everything they touched finger tight. That includes the lock nuts on the adjustable upper and lower control arms and track bar, and the bolt for the upper control arm to the axle.

With that all tightened up the clunk is gone, which is nice.

Badhobz 07-15-2025 06:37 AM

Thats disgusting! these people should all be fired

You could have had a major accident too if your upper and lower arms failed. The industry has gone to shits due to the work ethics of these gen z fuckers. I wish they would put down their damn phones and actually take some pride in their work (excuse me while i slack off and randomly schedule vessels to dock with no rhyme or reason). LIKE FOR FUCK SAKES KIDS! whos teaching you guys all these bad habit's!

red kryptonite 07-15-2025 10:37 PM

took such a big fucking L on this simple DIY (remove racing stripe)
1.5 hour gone, $35 wasted on adhesive remover, chipped hood... and still ended up having to bring it to a shop. stupid stupid STUPID :stupid:

ended up doing a full paint correction and plastic trim restoral, because she's worth it.

It's ok. Live and learn. At least you didn't build a body kit out of cardboard.

How much does paint correction cost?

Oh I love it! I’ve been driving this everyday since I got it. It’s so maneuverable around town and I can be less mindful of where I park. It’s manual, if I knew I’d be driving this as much as I do I probably would’ve looked for a dct. I’m not in love with the long throws and high engagement point of the clutch. It makes the overall manual driver experience very exaggerated.

$300ish depending on size.
I had them do my e46 for $350 and the mini was $300 and they did the plastic trims too.

I feel the same for my R53. I mean, it works but when you're rowing through all the gears in traffic, especially in Victoria (that time we met up) holy it gets exhausting.

My dad had some paint correction on his vehicle done recently by some old veteran in the detailing game and the guy made an interesting point, people here probably already do this but the guy said, when washing your car the worst thing you can do in terms of scratches it just spray it down with water and go at it with a wash mit/rag etc.

He said you’ve really gotta spray it down, then foam the entire car to break the dirt and grime away from the paint, THEN wash.

Obviously never really had nice enough vehicles to care but I ended up buying a foam gun off amazon so I can start washing it in this manner

68style 07-17-2025 09:42 AM

Waiting for your TikTok with foam gun and slow motion dancing later this summer!

trollface 07-17-2025 09:47 AM

Foam gun without a pressure washer isent going to do jack.

You're just gonna make a sad pre-cum looking dribble

Hondaracer 07-17-2025 09:48 AM

I bought some foam king one that claims to add pressure via the garden hose, I dunno lol

I also have an electric pressure washer but not feeling dragging it out every time to wash the vehicles

JDMDreams 07-17-2025 10:02 AM

^^^ same, I got a foam cannon but never used it cuz too lazy to drag out everything

roastpuff 07-17-2025 10:09 AM

I use a hose powered foam gun, it works OK - using CG Mr Pink it makes for a nice presoak. Not as good as proper pressure washer but better than nothing.

I had extensive experience in an 06 Mini JCW and it really reminded me of an E46.. and not in a good way. Heavy ass steering wheel, heavy clutch, long + unknown throw.

bcrdukes 07-17-2025 10:32 AM

Regardless of how we feel, we love the pain BMWs inflict on us. I still fucking love BMW.
